"The Abbey of the Lemur" is a notorious, decade-old public access TV show from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Created by Andrew "Panda" Lucariello and C.F. Roberts in 1997, the show has frequently been the focal point of first ammendment controversies around C.A.T. channel 18, Fayetteville's Public Access station. Four-letter words, chickenhouse mayhem, nudity, animal parts as props, comic diatribes about "gut-shooting fratboys", condemnation by Bible-thumpers who failed to get the joke, attacks by (and subsequent feuds with) local politicians, real estate pimps and their cronies in the newspapers---all this fun goes into the twisted historical tapestry that is "The Abbey of the Lemur". What seldom gets mentioned is that the show spawned four spin-offs, a rock band and a film festival.
