The Able Body hits the streets with a cache of experience both on the stage and in the studio. Sparked primarily from the ruins of former Chicago-based powerhouse The Greenlight Special, the band is quite familiar with local popularity, but remain huddled under a cloud of humility. Chris Medina (vocals, rhythm guitar), Zach Duran (lead guitar, backing vocals), Glenn Curran (lead guitar) Dave A (bass, vocals) and Jason Czarnik (drums), come together as a close-knit quintet of ambitious men on a mission to lift a haze that distorts what only seems real.
Their music transcends genre, and there’s no equation comprised of post-this or prog-that that sums up the wealth of influences that have molded the sounds that emanate from their instruments. On any given day, one may find the band feverishly tightening the compositional strings of their repertoire, speeding up a chorus here or adding smoother resolve there in search of the perfect harmony. There is one reason, and one reason only for this unwavering dedication – The Able Body longs to ignite the rusted vocal chords of a slumbering scene that’s in dire need of a passionate rejuvenation.
They sing of their city and bow down to it, afflicted with the knowledge that without the people and places they have come to pass, their dreams of breaking through would have never come to fruition and turned to action, limiting any potential explosion to a splintering crack in the store-front window, all hope lost for the destined shatter.
