The Actor's Workshop (Royal Oak, Michigan) was started in 1984 by Brian Lawrence - a film director, writer and acting teacher. The acting program consists of the Intro Workshop, an introductory course covering the basics of scene study; an advanced scene study class - Ongoing Study - in which the focus is role preparation, whether for film or stage; and a unique course designed to teach film production from an actor's point of view called Actor As Filmmaker. The Actor's Workshop also serves as a resource center for actors and filmmakers, providing private coaching and career guidance.
Over the years, many guest instructors including Sam Raimi (Spiderman I & II), Josh Becker (Lunatics, Running Time), Bob Dyke (Time Quest) and Bill Wendt (acclaimed theater director and Actor's Studio faculty member) have helped teach hundreds of actors who work professionally in commercials, on stage and in film.
