REVIEW OF THE ROCKET DOLLS
I HAVE SEEN THEM IN BRUM
EXCELLENT ! ;-)
Now, you are going to have to bear with me for a few moments and think of Converse All Stars and think timeless, think consistent and think of as being part of rocks great heritage, then apply this to The Rocket Dolls who raised the bar at The Purple Turtle in Camden tonight so high that it would have been exceptionally hard for any other band to match it, I pitied the poor fuckers who came on after them as they were like lambs to the slaughter who had no chance of redemption.
Nikki Smash on lead guitar and vocals commands the stage like he was born to do from the womb, his mother I’m sure, still bearing the proud scars of an iconic front man in the making, Steve Golder providing probably the best and heaviest of bass riffs I have heard from any of the big four that is tighter than a nats sphincter and delivered like a true master of arms, then there’s Mr Ben Knopfler, who behind his DW kit is a behemoth of a drummer, a solid, tight, heavy mother fucker who with every beat wakes the big man downstairs and with venom says “Come on then if you think your fucking hard enough”.
So to the gig itself, well, the horde welcomed the band on stage with screams and whistles which raised the roof and tonight the boys did not disappoint, they treated the appreciative crowd to a set of new songs as well as fan favourites “Delirium” and the current massive YouTube hit “Frame” and the Doll Crue loved every minute of the show showering the trio with applause and whistles throughout their energetic set.
Now I know I have said this many times before and I stand by it, I along with many others were watching a band that will in time be iconic legends, who will enter the rock’n’roll hall of fame and who I kid you not will be legends, rock’n’roll is hear to stay my friends as are Converse All Stars and as are The Rocket Dolls, catch them now while you
