The Adult Film Stars is the solo project of Seattle musician G. Paulsen, who performs most every track on the sophmore record "The Doubleheader", released in October 2006. Drum machines, acoustic guitars, and keyboards weave a "macrame wall-hanging of sound" that wafts stylistically in the directions of rock, r&b, and "non-cowboy hat wearing" country music. Paulsen's original mix of dry humor and mischievous lyrics expel a fresh breath of minty danger into the face of modern music and it's worn out cliches. Standout tracks include "U Put the 'Coma' in Tacoma, Baby", "Apocalypse Later", "Playtexx", and the haunting "I Was Beaten to Death By Teenagers". "The Doubleheader" was recorded both at home and at KJ Productions in Seattle, WA, and was produced, mixed, and mastered by Karl Johnson.
The Adult Film Stars debut "Money Shot" (2002) earned both record label
interest and indie radio play, but alas did not go multi-platinum. Paulsen has also recorded with friend/musician Bill Bartel under the name On Golden Blonde, who's debut "Thar She Blows" was released in 2003.
