Rob is lead singer, guitarist, and writes most of the songs. His writing has ranged through many styles over the years, but current material is mostly bluesy riff-based grooves and a few more soulful, atmospheric tunes. Leigh plays drums and percusion. Dave has played electric bass in many bands but this is the first time he's concentrated on double bass. It's still a physical challenge, but provides a phat rootsy drive to the sound.
Influences
Rob's biggest hero is Stevie-Ray Vaughan (it's obvious when you hear him play), as well as guitar-based music by B.B.King, Clapton, Derek Trucks, Z.Z.Top & Robin Ford. Leigh's musical influences range from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Powderfinger; he nominates Jeff Porcaro as the drummer who most influenced his drumming style. Dave's first big influence was James Jamerson's Motown bass parts; the pioneering fretless work of Jaco Pastorius is another, and he loves the fluent lines of Abraham Laboriel.
