   About Al Garcia
Al Garcia is a composer, publisher, guitarist, and producer.

UNDERGRADUATE and GRADUATE EDUCATION

Al's musical education began in the late 1980's at Yakima Valley Community College studying under many great music educators including Dr. Douglas Nott, Dr. Scott Peterson, Brooke Creswell (Current Conductor for the Yakima Symphony Orchestra). Recently, Al has studies under James Durkee, Dr. Isadore Rudnick, and David Blink in preparation for Central Washington University and Berklee College of Music. In the early 1990's, Al has also studied at the University of Washington from instructors like jazz great Marc Seals. During Al's brief stint as the University of Washington, he made the decision to continue his formal education and persue his degree in music.

Al is currently working toward his Bachelor of Arts in Music at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. He will also complete his Master's Degree at Central Washington Univeristy. There is a chance Al will return to the University of Washington to complete his PhD.

BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC & GUITAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

In addition to working toward a graduate school in music, Al is also working toward completing Master Guitar Certification through Berklee College of Music. In addition to Berklee's outstanding distance learning program, is the Berklee Press series which have enabled Al to develop a resource of material for performing and music education writing.

A valuable part of Al's education was studying under the methodology of Rich Severson; one of the original instructors of Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, California. At that time, Rich's colleagues included the great Howard Roberts, Don Mock and Joe Diorio. Joe founded G.I.T. and later established the Studio Jazz Program at Thornton School of Music (University of Southern California).

Al has also studied the G.I.T. methodology from many great past and current M.I. educators who are professional musicians, sessions players, and L.A. area artists through Musician's Institute Press. These players and teachers include Tom Kolb, Keith Wyatt, Jean Marc Belkadi, Robert Calva, Beth Marlis, Jaimey Findlay and many others.

Through his non-stop education and 32 years of electric and acoustic guitar experience, Al is always working on developing a vast vocabulary of musical language, style and ability on the guitar. He continues to search for a signature voice on his instrument and writing style in his compositions. It is solely because of the blessing of having very accomplished men and women as his mentors through all mediums that Al has been able to achieve what he has achieved as he contiunues to grow.

With three decades of playing experience to accompany education, Al has developed into a seasoned group oriented player. He has played in many groups and projects over the 31 year span in Rock, Metal, R&B, Jazz, and various Ethnic Music genres.

Al has played electric guitar, acoustic guitar and bass for Stone Church ministries. His time of playing with Generation Church included playing throughout the West Coast and Whistler, Canada. Al is still an active member of Stone Church's Worship and Arts team.

In the area of worship, he has also played as a guest musician with worship leaders Wendy Perez now based in Las Vegas, Nevada and Pastor Mark Venti of City Church in Kirkland, Washington. In 2008, Al played with Ross Parsley of New Life Church of Colorado Springs, CO during a worship concert in 2008.

Jim Seely performs with The Arturo O'Farrill Qunitet; O'Farrill is the 2009 Grammy winner for Best Latin Jazz Album.

JAZZ, BLUES & FUSION GUITAR

Al also actively performs as a jazz, blues and fusion guitarist. He has performed many times throughout the Northwest.

PUBLISHING & TEACHING

Al's focus as a publisher and teacher over the past few years has been the development of jazz harmony curriculum for guitar education. With a network of many great teachers throughout the world, Al develop state of the art curriculum and is quickly becoming one of the most sought out private instructors in Central Washington.

At the completion of his Masters Degree, Al would like to teach at the post-secondary level. Teaching is one of Al's passions, he loves to teach both guitar and now private ear training utilizing state of the art technology and equipment. Al has also been asked to provides clinics in many areas of guitar and music education throughout the Central Washington region. Most recently, he provided a clinic at Yakima Worship Conference 2008 during the three day event.

COMPOSING AND PRODUCTION SCORING

Al is the founder of SIGPEC, who offers limited sheet music publishing, music education, production scoring, and studio and performance guitar services. SIGPEC also offers the services of production scoring for film (major or independent), web development and video games. Al's work also represents the composing aspect as well as the music production aspect.

The composing aspect represents a large scope of music from the 15th century to the present. Al has composed many styles of music that would fall under either performance oriented (band oriented) or production oriented (film sountrack). For example, Al enjoys composing Afro-Cuban and Brazilian styles of instrumental music as original compositions for Latin Jazz live performance. Al is also currently writing the score for The Cellar Dwellers first CD which includes parts for jazz piano, bass, drums and guitar. He is also working on film and website projects continuously.

GOING INTO ALL THE WORLD, SPREADING THE WORD OF GOD.TO INSPIRE AND TO BE INSPIRED.

Preparation for Christ's return,

Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
MARK 13:33-34 (KJV)

That we may not be overcome, what are we told to do?

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
MATTHEW 26:41 (KJV)

Peace and Love in Christ.

You know dude, I'm glad I bought that guitar. I was just researching, and I found that the value has gone up on it since I bought it almost three years ago...I know inflation is bound to happen and all, but....sweet!

Our new album is out on Friday, May 1st, and nobody anywhere has it yet. If you buy only one the price is $12. But if you buy more than one, the price is less than $9 each. So buy 10. It will cost you about $90, but you'll be able to sell them to your friends for $12 each and make a profit.

Today's scripture verse,

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
LUKE 6:22-23
