BIO
The duo formed in rural New Hampshire during the spring of 2005. They quickly moved to Portland, Oregon in December 2005, and now reside in the mountains of Appalachia, growing native plants, and playing native music. The Ahs are Tony Rogers, a classically trained cellist and founder of The Portland Cello Project, and Amy McIntire, singer songwriter and multiinstrumentalist.
Their unique sound combines the rich, open lows of the cello with the bright precision of the banjo. Two voices: one male and one female, sing intricate harmonies against the instrumental lines. Their songs are rich and symphonic.

“...Welcome to The Ahs. On the left, you have Amy Grace McIntire, with banjo and a voice which flows like a river at sundown, sometimes floating and melodic like Sally Ellyson (Hem) and Jeanette Beswick (Amelia Jay), sometimes more dramatic like Kate Bush, but with frailty. On the right, wielding cello with emotion and attitude, is Anthony Lee Rogers, voice at the ready.”
