The Akins are made up of three brothers and a dad whose faith and family values shape their music. Their musical talent and tight family harmonies create a unique sound that is enjoyed by all ages. They write their own songs and play all of their own instruments.
David the father began back in 1988 when his three sons Dave, Nick, and Eli were children. While leading music at a youth retreat, David met a man named Jonathon who's Dad was a well known preaching evangelist. Jonathon's Dad had recently passed away. Jonathon shared with David that he knew his dad loved him, but he was in such high demand and was usually not able to be at home. His eyes then filled with tears as he told David that he wished he could have known his Dad better. That night David went to his hotel room and spent some time on his knees in prayer. He asked God to give him something he could do along with his family so that his three sons would not grow up and have to say that they never knew their father. Now, twenty years later it's clear to see that on that very night, God heard a desperate Dad's prayer.
But The Akins have only just begun. In July of 2008 they signed with Crossroads Records and released "Good Tired." Power Source Magazine quotes "Here’s a family quartet that really knows how to put an album together. They wrote most of the songs, but included a few irresistible standards like “It Is Well With My Soul” and “Blessed Assurance.” The ones they wrote, like the title tune, are folksy story tunes overflowing with images of grandpa, gravel roads, dreams, and Jesus. It’s hopeful, encouraging, and fun. The Akin family sees God’s hand in the everyday things of life, and knows how to put their particular vision of the Master’s care into song. This is a listening experience as warm as sunshine and sparkling as a mountain stream."
Since their release of "Good Tired", The Akins have been nominated for Horizon Group of the Year by Singing News Magazine. Also, the Inspirational Country Music Association has nominated The Akins in four categories. Nominations are ICM Entertainer of the Year, ICM Vocal Group of the Year, New Artist of the Year and Christian Country Song of the Year “Good To Know It’s Not The End” (from the CD Good Tired).
The new self titled CD from The Akins, released September 15th, 2009 is available online and at your local christian bookstores.
Dave, twenty-eight, Nick, twenty-five, and Eli, twenty-two, along with their Dad, David, all have the desire to use their music to make a difference in this world! They desire to reach outside the box of religion and be an example to a secular world of what God can do with any life, no matter how messed up it may be.

Hey Akins. I am looking forward to yall coming back to Lakeside Baptist Church in Milledgeville, Ga. The last time I saw yall I was leaving for Ft. Jackson, Sc for Army basic training. Yalls songs Good Tired and Look Around are 2 of my favorite songs. They mean the world to me and my mama. My grandmother is the church secratary at Lakeside.
