"You used to be a big shot. Now look at you."
Hi! My name is Miles and I WAS ONCE The Alcoholic Freshman. Now, I just prefer to be called Miles. It makes sense...it's shorter, and there's less confusion about whether I'm only one guy (which I was) or multiple people (some folks liked to called me "The Alcoholic FreshMEN" which would imply that I was more than one dude....which...uh....I wasn't). Nowadays, the only confusion about my name is whether I am a guy named Miles or multiple units of a distance measurement (miles = 5,280 feet multiplied by a factor of "x"). You see! I'm clever I tell you! INCREDIBLY CLEVER!
So I have some bad news, some even worse news, and finally some good news. I'll proceed with the bad news first.
BAD NEWS - I don't play music as The Alcoholic Freshman anymore and chances are excellent that the only time you'll ever hear these songs are if you listen to them or sing them yourself. Deal with it, chump! I played my last show in July of 2007, which is a decision that I don't regret making. Why did I do this? There are many reasons, but the main one being that I didn't feel ok with the message that I was sending with my music anymore and I wanted to do something that serves God and not my self.
EVEN WORSE NEWS!!!! - as it turns out, I was never clever and I'm not clever now. This comes as a huge shock to me since my mom used to laugh at all of my sarcastic comments and say, "Miles, you're so clever. Someday people will think you're clever and give you $1,837,383!". As it turns out, I never received that payment of money and I am now angry at YOU for that! That's right, YOU! No, not you....yes...a little to the left....little more..YES, YOU!!!!!
GOOD NEWS!!! - The good news is that you have these songs (be grateful, you little punk!) to remember me by, and one of these days I will probably again play some more music, so don't forget to check in on me from time to time because when and if I do something else musically, I plan to update this page to inform everyone that appreciates the music I make.
On a more serious note, I would like to thank the people that have helped me achieve some of my dreams over the two year span that I played music as The Alcoholic Freshman. Over the years I played in 25 states over several tours, put out three CD's, won some cool awards, lost a bunch of money, and made some good friends. There are plenty of people that I have to be thankful for throughout my journeys and I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did without them. To those people, you know who you are, and you have my deepest thanks.
And lastly, I would just like to state one thing to everyone that I ever encountered (whether they treated me good or bad).....
Some people hated me and couldn't stand me.
Some people loved me and couldn't get enough of me.
EVERYONE paid attention!

I don't get it.. is this like a band, or what? When's your next show? Come to my hometown of Ninilchik, Alaska and play a show!! There's tons of people here who can't wait for your tour!!!1!11
Hmmm...I'm sure we can work something out. I'm bnad at setting prices, though, so jsut whatever should be cool. And it's funny that you mentioned giving them out for free; I've actually given the vast majority of the ones I bought from you last time away, haha.
And I totally forgot to call because I'm a terrible person. Once I get off work tonight, however, I will. Oh, and I talked to Lazaras, we're working things out.
The only problem I have is finding stuff to play on it. I don't think I know it well enough to write stuff, so I've just been transposing songs from guitar tabs. I try and figure out your songs, but my ear isn't that good.
i find having do your thumbs hurt as the most coolest ironic thing ever oh and hey MILES if you ever decide to a rise from the dead, come to oregonnn :)
now that we've relocated we wanted to drop a line and hopefully we're not to late to say happy new year.
Also, we've released two projects to start the new year, from Shawn Tracy and Jon Crocker, we would love it if you stopped by and gave them a listen...
Hey man. Just lettin you know, we're breakin up too. =[. We're playing a last show on december twenty eighth andddddd just were wondering if by some stroke of fate you might wanna come down here and see it. if you dont thats totally cool, we love you. but it would be awesome if you could. love, datd
So, I'm pretty sure we should do a limited re-release of the Christmas album, as the holidays are drawing nigh. You can keep all the money from it, I just wanna be able to say I released a Christmas compilation.
