FIGURE OF THE MONTH Darth Vader - The Chosen One
"Whether or not Anakin Skywalker was the Chosen One of Jedi Prophecy - the being who would bring balance to the Force and destroy the Sith - was a hotly debated topic and a source of great controversy within the Jedi Council.
The Force was so mysterious and unfathomable that even those Jedi who dedicate their lives to honouring and studying it can never reach a complete understanding of its complexity. The only thing known for certain is that, in its most simplistic form, there is a light side (bestowing peace, serenity and knowledge) and a dark side (full of rage and aggression), and that both sides co-exist in an uneasy relationship.
An ancient prophecy - from the earliest days of the Jedi order - foretold that a Jedi would be born who was so powerful that he would bring 'balance' to the Force. No Jedi Knight knew for certain what was behind the prophecy, although many hoped it meant the eventual elimination of the dark side.
After the fall of Darth Bane, more than a thousand years before the Galactic Civil War, only two Sith (a Master and an apprentice) had ever lived at any one time. Thousands of Jedi, meanwhile, had used the Force in positive ways in every corner of the universe. Given this, many were unsure what bringing 'balance' to the Force might entail.
When Qui-Gon Jinn found Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine, he was surprised at the intensity of the Force in the boy. Despite Anakin's tender age, he was able to perform feats that were impossible for many of the Jedi, had excellent reflexes and seemed to be able to know what was going to occur seconds before it happened. A Blood test revealed that the child had the highest midi-chlorian count ever recorded, exceeding even that of Yoda and Mace Windu. When Anakin's mother told Qui-Gon that her son had no father, the Jedi Master did not doubt that he had found the Chosen One.
Delighted, Qui-Gon brought Anakin Skywalker before the Jedi Council. Doubts about the boy's true significance caused controversy amongst its members, who wondered whether the prophecy could have been misinterpreted. Although they agreed that very few in the history of the order had boasted Anakin's obvious potential, they also knew of the disastrous implications of their making a hasty decision.
Ultimately, the Jedi Council decided not to train Anakin, but events on Naboo caused its members to change their minds. The time had come to trust the wisdom of the Force.
Anakin was the Republic's greatest hero during the Clone Wars. In his duel with Count Dooku, Skywalker proved he was one of the few Jedi able to face and defeat a Sith. The truth was that the youngster had no doubt about who he was and thought he had been chosen to meet goals unattainable for most. In fact, his lust for power and knowledge began to increase, with horrifying consequences.
When Anakin was seduced by the dark side, it seemed the prophecy had been interpreted wrongly, as Yoda nd Mace Windu feared. As Darth Vadar, Anakin helped Palpatine exterminate the Jedi in a purge that only Obi-Wan and Yoda would survive. The Emperor firmly believed that the dark side had triumphed and, with his new apprentice, he planned to rule the galaxy at his whim, spreading a new era of darkness.
The Emperor could not suspect that Anakin's son, Luke, would redeem his father, nor that Anakin could turn against his Master. It was only when he terminated the menace of the Sith (by destroying the Emperor and redeeming himself) that Anakin restored balance to the Force. With the prophecy now realized, it became undeniable that he had indeed been the Chosen One."
- George Lucas
"Anakin's descent to the dark side of the force was triggered by several events, among them the death of his mother. Palpatine drew Anakin to the dark side. His ambition and arrogance turned him into Darth Vadar - a brutal Sith Lord. Due to the actions of his son, Anakin realised his destiny and elimated the Sith"
- George Lucas with his brief summary of the Star Wars Legend."

"We're also renowned for being the first pub to bring you ....Bacardi 151
BACK IN STOCK!!!!
"Bacardi 151, or "151" as it is sometimes called, is an exceptionally high proof rum. The 151-proof liquor is approximately 75.5% alcohol by volume, and is sometimes referred to as "overproof rum" because of the high level of alcohol. Bacardi 151 is notable for being, aside from pure grain alcohols such as Everclear, the strongest alcoholic beverage widely available in America." - brought to you from the bible that is Wikipedia
Who I'd like to meet: Who would we like to meet? Well, it would be...BRUCE LEE of course!!
“Showing off is the fool's idea of glory.” "Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself. Do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.” "Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them.”
"When there is freedom from mechanical conditioning, there is simplicity. The classical man is just a bundle of routine, ideas and tradition. If you follow the classical pattern, you are understanding the routine, the tradition, the shadow - you are not understanding yourself.” "To hell with circumstances. I create opportunities."
Check out this Bruce Lee interview, I think you'd find it hard to find a current actor with the same amount of charisma or enthusiasm for his work!

Raoul Duke: Panic. It crept up my spine like first rising vibes of an acid frenzy. There I was. Alone in Las Vegas, completely twisted on drugs, no cash, no story for the magazine, and on top of everything else, a gigantic god damned hotel bill to deal with. How would Horatio Alger handle this situation?
