It’s 1998. Swindon is enjoying a rare moment of success with Billie Piper’s ‘Girlfriend’ at Number One in the charts. Oblivious to this, Charlie nervously makes his way into the unfamiliar Year 2 classroom at his new primary school. Sam is sitting on the carpet, eagerly awaiting the start of lessons. Adam is busy eating crayons in the corner...again. Charlie tentatively sits down near Sam. Sam looks up from his new big boy’s shoes (with real laces) to see a face he doesn’t recognise looking lost and a little upset. “Hello,” says Sam “Who are you?” Charlie blinks before replying quietly, “I’m Charlie...”
Fast forward eleven years to 2009. Adam, Charlie and Sam have been writing, gigging and recording for the last four years. They’ve been on a full UK tour, played at Glastonbury, been played on Radio One, 6 Music, XFM and other radio stations and become the first and only unsigned band to sell out Swindon’s 300‐capacity 12 Bar. In the last year they’ve also spent entire afternoons watching The Office, eaten everything in Charlie’s cupboards on a tri‐weekly basis, nearly making him homeless on one occasion, argued about everything from reverb to The Faces vs Rod Stewart and shared many a bath together.
So go on, indulge yourself in The Alfonz and their youthful Swindonian charm...
Listened to your work and very impressed, Sitting On Your Radiator is the stuff hits are made of and Fingers Round My Heart is almost like a British Buddy Holly, great reverb on that track, wonderful atmosphere.
Hope you guys get where you want from all the hard work you're doing, my guess is you will.
Alright boys, how are yous lot? hope the gigs are doing fine, we have the doghouse sunday so hopefully it should be a good night!! when are yous back in dundee hope to do another gig with use again cheers ts?!x
THE DACOITS play the Vic with THE DIRTY FEEL & HOTEL 75 on the 5th NOVEMBER To celebrate the arrival of their DEBUT ALBUM.
It’s been a long gestation period and a painful birth but we are now delighted to announce the arrival of our first album. Weighing in at 40 minutes it is an temperamental creation of flawed beauty, prone to violent, noisy outbursts yet irresistibly charming and loveable. Come along to wet the baby’s head, hear some excellent live music and grab a copy of the album.
hope the tour's going well chaps, things are going swimmingly state side, would be lovely to catch up for a spot of tea when we're all back in the shire:)
