    Former Machine Head drummer joins The Alien Blakk
     
    Drummer Chris Kontos (MACHINE HEAD, TESTAMENT) has joined THE ALIEN BLAKK, the band led by guitarist/producer Joshua Craig.

    Commented Craig: "Chris and I have been talking for about a year or so about THE ALIEN BLAKK. It has been over this time that we have come to a solid understanding of each other as people and as musicians that I am happy to make this announcement.

    "Chris has an approach that is [John] Bonham meets Igor [Cavalera; SEPULTURA] and way beyond, in my opinion. He has all the ALIEN music and digs the newer direction and we are both enthusiastic about where this can go to for future material."

    Added Chris: "I can't wait to get in the room with Josh and make some music I think the 'power trio combo' vibe will bring out some really raw and inventive metal music with rock overtones new to THE ALIEN BLAKK sound perhaps. 2010 will bring out full disclosure of THE ALIEN BLAKK!"

    THE ALIEN BLAKK frontman Joshua Craig, has a new, free streaming monthly online guitar lesson. This month's lesson focuses on Drop D playing. Says Craig: "As most metal these days is drop tuned, I wanted to focus a lesson on the approach of this style of playing. I have infused playing rhythm and lead styles at the same time as is the case with most of todays approach in our style."

    Each lesson is about 7 minutes, free and is geared toward today's metal player. This month's lesson on Drop D playing is streaming at www.guitarsessions.com

    The Alien Blakk frontman, Joshua Craig, will be doing two separate speaking engagements this Thursday. The first will be on Music Business and the second will be on Production and Engineering in Metal. Both engagements will be in Scottsdale, Arizona at 10:30 and 3:00 and will last about 90 minutes each.     Guitarist/frontman for The Alien Blakk, Joshua Craig, has a new video free streaming video guitar lesson. This months lesson, is on "Slurs" and is posted at -this location-....

    "The focus on this lesson is to show how to link together a few diffrent scales across the fingerboard and rip from bottom to top, while being melodic. I want to keep the ideas in lead guitar approach fresh for the metal heads out there, so I threw a few ideas on Scales and Relative Major/Minor keys together". says Craig.
     
    There will be a new guitar video lesson every month and updated information on the release of the long awaited offering, "Bekoming", by The Alien Blakk. The announcement will be made soon.

    Joshua Craig of The Alien Blakk has a new free on line guitar session series. http://www.guitarsessions.com/aug09/rockblues.asp is the link where the first in a series of lessons will appear. 1 a month will be released, same time every month. A free 7 minute guitar lesson on "How To Play Diminished & Blues Runs Over Diminished 7th Chords" appears. The upcoming sessions are, "...more Metal and deal with commonly asked questions at my guitar clinics and by my students. I teach in Scottsdale Arizona if anyone may be interested, feel free to contact me thru the myspace link listed below.", said the guitar player/frontman/writer/producer. To assist in working with these lessons, there is actual manuscript as well as tablature toreferance to. The in-play soloing is at the 7th minute if u just wannna watch a quick ripping jam, but the actual lessons are focused on having fun. For any questions or to comment on the lessons and share with others on this subject, feel free to e mail the guitarist thru his band website on myspace at www.myspace.com/healienblakkmusic where there is a rough mix of a couple of songs off of the upcoming release from The Alien Blakk, entitled "Bekoming".
