BIO

In 2006, after the recording of a demo album named Light and Darkness (available for free download at aliensun.bandcamp.com) and some gigs in Italian clubs, the Italian rock band STARLESS passed a critical phase that led the singer (Luca Giuliani) to leave the band.

The three remaining members (Fabio Epifani on guitar, Emanuele Zazzara on bass and Nicolò Colombaro on drums) continued writing new tracks, leaving progressive influences and moving to more psychedelic atmospheres. The main compositional technique of the project became long instrumental improvisation, the sound became heavier and warmer and the band changed its name in ALIEN SUN.

Recorded and mixed in January 2008, the self-titled, self-produced, full-length album was released in May.

In addition to the instrumental core of the band, there were some collaborations during the album recording session such as that of Emilio Gerboni, Stefano Faccini on vocals and Michele Epifani on keyboards.

The album was recorded and mixed by Michele Epifani, who has been the leader of the progressive rock band AREKNAMÉS.

After recording the album, ALIEN SUN devoted itself to some gigs in local clubs, also supported by special guests such as Frederico Sergente (drums), Alessandro Sergente (guitar) and Davide Straccione (vocals), who have been members of ZIPPO (stoner rock band from Pescara).

ALIEN SUN broke up permanently in 2009.

After the band broke up, its founder (Fabio Epifani) have composed new tracks also using synthesizers and drum machines for the first time and producing a new sound, contaminated by new wave and electronic influences. In 2010, after he met again the old STARLESS singer (Luca Giuliani), they reformed a project named MINDLINE.
