The last year for Amanda Rheaume has shown what can happen when
natural talent and hard work coincide.
In May 2009 Rheaume independently released her latest EP “Kiss Me
Back”. Recorded in Vancouver British Columbia with producer Jeff
Dawson (State of Shock, Daniel Powter, Holly McNarland, Kelly Rowland
etc), Amanda walked away, not only with a new CD, but, more
importantly, with an unbridled sense of enthusiasm.
“Kiss Me Back is by far the strongest collection of songs, both in
songwriting and production, that I have ever released,” she says.
“I feel incredibly honoured to have been able to work with such
amazing artists in the last year.”
So far 2009 has been a busy year: Amanda travelled to Afghanistan on
a goodwill trip to perform for the troops, recorded her latest CD
"Kiss Me Back" with Jeff Dawson, travelled to Central America to
perform 3 shows for the Canadian Embassies for Canada Day , opened for
The Black Keys and Jeff Beck at Ottawa Bluesfest and was the only
Canadian act brought overseas for the 2009 G!Festival in The Faroe
Islands (south of Iceland).
Since September 2008, Rheaume has co-written songs with Chantal
Kreviazuk, Holly McNarland, and Jeff Pearce from Moist. She also
managed to tour Canada coast-to-coast for the Babes for Breasts
benefit (20 shows in 26 days), raising money for breast cancer
awareness. When Amanda isn’t writing, recording, or performing, she is
booking her own shows, doing promotion, or communicating with her fans
through email, videos, and her blog.
Over the course of her career Amanda has shared the stage with a
number of top international acts including The White Stripes, Finger
Eleven, Lucinda Williams, The Trews, Sloan and Ani DiFranco. Her early
performing days go as far back as 1999 sharing the stage with veterans
Sarah MacLachlan,The Dixie Chicks, and The Indigo Girls at Lilith Fair
in Toronto. "To share the stage with these people andconnect to their
audience is a challenge, and they've embraced me. It's so amazing that
such a variety ofcrowds have taken to my music so well."
Amanda serves as inspiration to all
independent artists in Canada, and
worldwide, building a careerin
music from the ground up. This
uncompromising approach has
lent her an aura of credibility
that comes through instantan-
eously upon hearing her sing or
speak.
She has made music her life's
work, on her own terms.
