The Amandas came into being (or rather was conceived) when a friend asked Mahal Amanda to do a short demo song for a video project which eventually caught the attention and interest of then-producer-turned guitarist, Bel, who scheduled a meet up around June of 2005 and ended that particular day as the official announcement that a new band was in existence. The band was then given birth under the roof of the infamous 6 Underground (6UG) bar & resto that also had its own recording studio and that was where The Amandas did a take on their first original composition "Wonder Why", led by Iggy and Mahal Amanda.
With Mahal Amanda & Bel as the prominent members, around 3 batches of talented musicians came and went like the ever changing winds but nevertheless had lent their skills to The Amandas’ original songs over the proceeding months. This also gave way for the band’s search for its true destined sound. The now standing members of the band include Mervin the gentle drummer giant (also of SugarHiccup), Allen the talented "bibo" bassist (also of The Haneps) and KC the new and upcoming brilliant keyboardist (also of MaHaSa).

The Amandas have been playing their gigs at Mag:net Cafe in Katipunan, Club Dredd in Eastwood, Al’s Bar in Paranaque, Purple Haze in QC, and of course its home, 6 Underground (which is now located in Pearl Drive, Ortigas).
