"....like alternative music when it was still alternative"
".... both blissfully melancholic indie and uplifting stripped-back folk and comes to a sprawling, open-mouthed finish with an almost Velvet Underground-esque wall of sound, acoustics flitting between prog keyboard stabs and all buried under Neil Beards's darkly overdriven Mary Chain guitar. The Amber Herd; on the one hand, widescreen atmospheric rock and on the other, trippy mellifluous acousticity. Notts-based five piece who’ve spent the last three years clawing their way through the soft white underbelly of the local Nottingham scene and are now slipping up past the ether to deposit themselves somewhere near the stars....
The Amber Herd have been busy over the last twelve months, playing venues in Nottingham and further afield with some great bands including That Petrol Emotion, Blackbud, Arms and Sleepers (USA) In Isolation, Made of Leaves, Model Morning, Frontiers, The Silver Tongues, Fat Digester, Satnam's Tash, Breathe, Curtis Whitefinger, Alberto Veto and Lisa De'Ville.
2009 has been great for us so far and we've played some really well- received shows at The Rescue Rooms, Bodega, Seven, The Maze and Loggerheads. We have released our debut, double A side single- Stage Fright/ Foot Tapper at Stuck On A Name studios in Nottingham. Since then we have been featured in session on Dean Jackson's Show on BBC Radio Nottingham and have also had the single played on John Holmes' show.
Following our recent, debut, shows at The Rescue Rooms (supporting That Petrol Emotion) and The Social (supporting Blackbud) we've been filmed for the Evening Post's "This is Live" (due to be aired in September) and the I'm Not From London movie.
Most recently, Stage Fright has been played on consecutive weeks on URN who also played out an interview with us they did following our show at Brownes as part of the Hockley Hustle.
We've got a handful of top Nottingham shows before Christmas and are back in the studio in early December cooking up some new tunes to feed your heads with. Hope to see you along the way.
The single is available from all download sites including iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody and Amazon from NOW! Buy "Stage Fright" here:

Hi there! We're just busy looking for a new drummer at the moment so things are kinda on hold temporarily. Once we've got one though we'll be well away, we've got loads of ideas so that should be fun! I see you have a pile of gigs coming up. Good luck with them, and i'll see you at Hockley Hustle! Jake x
Nice to meet you guys too.. Pity we both had to play to nobody!!!!!! We certainly will bear you in mind.. and vica versa hopefully, we dont get to play notts as much as we would like... Or chesterfield!! and thanks for sound checking the drums for us!!
yeahh, was nice to meet you guys! If any of you fancy coming to our headline show in Derby on Saturday, then i'll be happy to put you and any guests on the guestlist for the gig.
Interesting stuff. Gave a listen to Stage Fright which sounded like a cross between psychedelic and Queensryche, especially the vocals. Innovative to say the least. Glad to have you as a friend. Dan/TheWorkers BUY EAST BRONX EPIPHANY
Wicked, will try to get to some then! Actually, we're doing a little acoustic set at the open mic at Junction 7 tomorrow if anyone's around - i forgot about that earlier!
