THE AMCATS isn't an exotic breed of cat. It's a girl who plays drums and a boy who plays guitar and sings. They met over their love of music and consumated their kinship through their own unique brand of sweaty, raw, garage rock.
A dash of british garage,
One part Missisippi blues,
and a sprinkle of punk. Delish.
After releasing their debut EP, they quickly picked up airplay across Australia (JJJ, RRR, FBi), Europe (Portugal, Greece, Spain) and the US, attracting the attention of Smashed Records, who released a sold-out split 7" with psych-rockers/fishing buddies Mona Lisa Overdrive.
They have since shared the stage with Die! Die! Die! (NZ), The Bellrays (US), The Dolly Rocker Movement, The Silents, Peabody & Kid Confucious, as well as gracing Adelaides Fuse Festival & Schoolies Festival main stage.
Check them out before someone else does!
“so much fun in a 1950's Happy Days way with their goofy interplay and shredding minimal grooves that you can't help but come back again and again.” – Spoz…
“undeniably ace” – NME
“A sound that usurps calculated musical proficiency and instead relies on rock telepathy” – Rip It Up Magazine

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4
THE RUBYS FIRST BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA - 4 MORE SLEEPS
One year ago, on a lonely Wednesday evening at a forgettable Collingwood pub, The Rubys played their first gig. Twelve months on, the three scrappy-looking lads have under their belts better songs, more gigs and are infecting Melbourne audiences with catchy, raw, stomp rock n roll pretty much weekly. So to mark the milestone of reaching the ripe old age of one, The Rubys are celebrating with a birthday party! With around 40 gigs down over the previous year and a wildly raucous live set, there has been a lot of jumping around and beer consumed so this Friday at the Old Bar will be no exception. Expect some wild blues-driven sets by The Volatiles and The Bellows to warm things up, and the boy’s favourite two-piece The Cheats bringing it all home. 8:30 start, $8, Party hats provided.
Hope to see you down there and we can all rock out!!

If you are a fan it would be great to see you at our next gig - see www.jimmyyukka.com. In future the best way to find out about what we are up to is to join our mailing list.
