Do you remember the competition you entered to vote for The Angels - By Request Tour? We here at Spitfire Music aren't dodgy people, so instead of taking the trip to Melbourne ourselves John and Rick Brewster came into the office to pick out a winner from a list of those that chose the correct set list. The winner (Ged from Wollongong) had a blast and put on his writing cap and tell us about his adventure with The Angels.
Finishing up 2009 on a major high, The Angels are planning a series of pub rock shows under the banner ‘Angels Live’. The dates, in late November early December 09, will be the last chance to see the guys play in this environment for sometime.
With a career spanning over 30 years, the band will play all their classic hits along with a few other tunes that fans won’t have heard at previous concerts. Rick, "With a large repertoire it’s easy to forget about songs and looking at the list now I remember how much I used to enjoy playing some of these songs in the 80's. We used to open the show with 'Small Price to Pay' (what a great groove) ... and then there were songs like 'Underground' and 'Staring Voices', which brought out the best in Doc's theatrical approach. Playing some different songs in the 'By Request' tour has been very stimulating and now planning to include some more of these lost gems in the new set and this should be nothing short of inspiring. No dubbing or backing tapes are used in The Angels live shows – what you see is what you get – hot, loud, real and rockin and LIVE! An unforgettable night for the fans.

"Whilst the boys as are all of us, a bit older, a couple of kilos heavier, with less or greying hair, tonight was not a night of playing for the money, nor being a covers band of themselves. The reunion/ anniversary show was a celebration of a band that can still cut it with a combination of brilliant songs, musicianship and showmanship that in today's fickle music world of image over substance is sorely missed. Welcome back The Angels."
I'm glad language is free on this site via the previous comment! So, Happy Fuck Me Season, that's what it's down to. Let's call this, fm season, later, hm? The Angels always to me, the best r & r.
