Anna Byars (guitar/vocals) is not only the namesake of the band, she’s the backbone. Her no frills style and fearless self-expression come out as organic sounds wrenched from the gut, layered with the simple suffering of complex relationships. A notch above five feet tall, she uses her voice to stand above the crowd. Her fretting fingers can also be heard dancing the strings in The Casuals and Dr. Dining Room.
Jeff Shoji (bass) began playing in college, loves progressive rock, and brings the priceless value of fresh perspective due to his complete lack of training in the folk genre. When he’s not practicing with the band, he’s rocking out with his various solo projects.
Tim Marchiafava (drums) is a violinist by training, drummer by heart. Studying classical music since adolescence, he ripped the violin from under his chin and started banging out beats. His other bands include Elsah and Dr. Dining Room.
The trio plays to connect to the listener and hopes the music will resonate. They want their fans to feel like a tuning fork recognizing sympathetic vibrations and realize a pure moment of emptiness in shared experience.
Just a Louisiana band out of Baton Rouge seeking a gold brighter than their eyes, chasing after it like Icarus to the light.
Or, simply, they are here to kick folking ass.
You Bet!

Hi! :-) Thanks for adding me! I've uploaded some new pictures and a live version of "Lay Them Down" from the cd release concert at the Triple Door here in Seattle last week. Enjoy! xoxo
let me know if you play in austin... you should come and play in austin... me and mr. keen have a guest room and a pull out couch, though being musicians you've probably got eight million places to stay in a city like this... if you come i'll actually make time to go to a show, and i hear that's practically mandatory if you live here...
if they are orange rectangles, there is a good chance they are mine. i thought i had lost them during spanish town parade, but possibly someone stole them from me that day and is using them now, stealing all my glory. i would love to have them back. i might be coming to baton rouge in 9 days, so we'll see.
I just got so totally busted for flirting with you on the internet. I broke lesbo commandment number 3. Thou shall not flirt with friends ex girlfriend. Now we will really have to limit conversation to knitting and lesbianseperatisim....but I'm no saint so I may slip.
kisses
i miss me some crawfish, so am sending this to all my peeps back home. . . send crawfish to lelia immediately! and mardi gras beads, and king cakes. . okay??? and if you are near a Meche's donuts, I would like those too ;) (and I would say a shrimp po boy but i dont think it would travel well)

FESTIVE COFFEE CUPS, HOLIDAY MUSIC, LONG LINES, OFFICE PARTIES, all these great things only happen once a year, so like Michael used to say, ENJOY YOURSELF, ENJOY YOURSELF!
so i thought it might be worth mentioning that after you left, it came to my realization that i was actually supposed to fly out this morning for my interview. i also found out that i owe the feds 5 grand. do i qualify for some sort of vip status on thurs?....did i mention i've moved back in with my parents?
for my zombie-ish fake game cover, I used this photo of Tim from an Anna Byars Band performance...must've been during the climax of a wicked drum solo!
Just wanted to say hello and let you know that we have free JSB ringtones available on our MySpace site! Hope you're having a great weekend and please keep in touch!
