"New York City’s the Anthem Sound are strong with their sinewy guitars and angular choruses but yet so unbelievably approachable and catchy. “4 Songs” is a testament to strong yet straight-forward songwriting with a cut-to-the-chase approach that many of today’s bands would be smart to embrace. Their sheer breadth in scope should be embraced but I guarantee that no one will think twice for hugging on tightly to those magical harmonies of dissonant noisy post-punk emotional rock that the group seems to pour out with each of their “4 Songs."

"So, what happens if I’m not a fan of [Death Cab For Cutie, Bloc Party, Explosions In The Sky]? Chances are I could have passed right over The Anthem Sound’s 4 Songs and holy shit, would I have been pissed off if I did! They have a unique and beautiful sound that is founded in an interesting structure of soft, lush vocals coupled with driving, rolling musicianship. This distinctiveness could have spelled disaster for another band, coming off as disjointed and not cohesive. The Anthem Sound, however, fucking NAILS IT."

"Based in Brooklyn, THE ANTHEM SOUND's debut 4 Songs demo is quite a listen. Released on an Eyeball imprint called Hello My Name Is Records, these four tracks go from sounding like OPEN HAND in the first track to MUSE in the second track to DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE in the third track and finally some kind of RECEIVING END OF SIRENS/JIMMY EAT WORLD amalgamation in the fourth track. While all of these influences could make for an unlistenable album, THE ANTHEM SOUND pulls it off."
