Sounds Like
Music that makes you ask the question: "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?"
"Strangely familiar, yet distinctly unique. You won't hear another album like this by anyone!"
"One moment they're fierce, then calculated, then gentle...with a nod to retro and an introduction to the future"
The new album Antisocial Disorder is available now at iTunes. Featuring the singles The Bomb and The Honeymoon Is Over.
When war strikes, education stops, and a generation loses sight of its future. 120 million children are denied primary education and two thirds of them are girls. Education is key to reducing poverty: Access to quality education breaks the cycle of poverty, especially for girls and women, and lowers child mortality rates. War Child Canada has teamed up with Aldo’s Spring stores to build schools in Africa by selling War Child leather bracelets. The design of the bracelet relies on a simple concept: rebuilding lives, one brick at a time. The bracelets cost $5.00 each, with all proceeds going to war-affected children in some of the most devastated regions in the world. For further information, please visit - http://www.warchild.ca/
On Monday, November 24th, 2008, War Child and Spring Shoes play host to some of Canada’s top musicians and artists, as they join forces with Spring for a busking event in support of War Child Canada. It will take place at Toronto Eaton Centre’s Trinity Way.
Kalan Porter, Brian Melo, The Trews, Eva Avila, Liam Titcomb, The Apollo Effect, Shiloh, One Second Too Late, stars of Degrassi and others will perform and sign War Child bracelets at the Toronto Eaton Centre on Monday November 24 between Noon-2:00 pm and 4:00-9:00 pm. 100% of the proceeds will help War Child and Spring shoes rebuild schools in Africa.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE APOLLO EFFECT
Formed in Toronto in 2005 The Apollo Effect is one of Canada’s most electrifying new bands. In the vein of The Killers, The Bravery and Coldplay with stadium like anthems and high energy live shows they're destined for international acclaim.
Musically crossing all borders with their modern rock retro edge sound that borrows cleverly from such artists as Cheap Trick, Duran Duran and Oasis fusing new wave, modern rock and brit pop.
In September 2007, The Apollo Effect defeated over of 400 other acts from across Canada to win The Great Canadian Band Challenge; and their much talked about showcase performance at this year’s East Coast Music Awards has ignited a buzz for this U.K. influenced band.
The Apollo Effect have performed special events with their piers such as Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, The Trews, Die Mannequin and The Arkells. They have also supported and donated their talents to important foundations such as War Child, the Canadian Cancer Society and Sick Kids Hospital.
Their first full-length CD titled Antisocial Disorder was just released via Fontana North/Universal. Recorded in Canada and produced, with some help from Canada’s pioneering new wave leader Gord Deppe of The Spoons as well as Canadian Idol Music Director and one of Canada’s hottest Producers Mike Borkosky (Ill Scarlet, The Reason, Low Level Flight) who was responsible for some production and mixing.
