Biography
The Arcadian Kicks, co-managed by Jon Brookes (The Charlatans), have just finished recording their self-financed debut album with Mike Chapman (Blondie's legendary producer of Parallel Lines, Eat To The Beat and Auto American amongst many other hit artists).
Mike Chapman - "I can honestly say that making this record was right up there with the best work I've done. Any time you get to work with kids who have their kind of skills, you are reminded on a daily basis of why you got into this business in the first place. I love these kids!".
The Arcadian Kicks released their debut single "19 Days" in August on One Beat Records via EMI. For a new band it received a great reaction and picked up plays on BBC Radio 2, 6 Music, Kerrang and many other regional stations.
The promo video for "19 Days" can be viewed here. Off the back of this profile boost they were awarded the prestigious "Band Of The Week" in UK national newspaper, The Independent. View the article here.
To build interest in the single, the band went on a UK tour from March climaxing at the Wychwood and Isle Of Wight Festivals in June then T in the Park (BBC Introducing Stage) & Napa Live Festival in Ayia Napa, Cyprus in July. Footage of the 'T In The Park' performance was shown on BBC2 Scotland and BBC Iplayer. You can view a track called "I Can't Sleep" here. This song was released on the Strummerville charity compilation album for Jail Guitar Doors project, "Breaking Rocks". The band have also recently given away a free track called "Black & White" which has already received hundreds of downloads.
Over the last 3 years the band have built up their own club night at The Sound Bar, Birmingham called The Syndicate. It attracts big crowds and quality guest bands from around the country such as Marner Brown, Poppy & the Jezebels, The Ruling Class, Tantrums and The Lines. You can find the event page for our next club night here.
The band recorded 2 new songs in Autumn 2010 before playing the final festivals of the year (including Artsfest with The Twang in Birmingham in September). They then set off on a short UK tour to air some new songs.
The band have been constantly writing new material which they will start recording (with Mike Chapman at the helm again) in February 2011.
