theAristocrats were formed in 2007 by Shep Gest and Noah Gest, two brothers from NYC that have been playing and singing together for nearly 20 years. They transcribe, arrange and perform American folk songs, pre-war blues, country, hokum, and Hawaiian music. In the summer of 2007, while traveling in Stockholm, Sweden, they were discovered and signed to Clumsy Cat Music. Their first album, theAristocrats, was recorded live at Decibel Studios in Stockholm, and was released by Sony/BMG on April 2, 2008. In March 2008 they added members Michele Benincaso (upright bass), Edith Lundahl (mandolin) and sometimes Mikaela Samuelson (vocals) and Mattias Olsson (drums). The group performs regularly in Stockholm and around Sweden.
