Wow!! What a crazy summer, I hope you all made it out to some of the shows and had a chance to check out a revolving array of new musicians and tunes. We certianly had a lot of fun. We've posted some new songs, from a show we played at Freddy's Backroom in Brooklyn. There deffinitly hip and show some of the new directions we're opening up for our music as a band. Keep on the look out, we're currently working on a bunch of shows for the fall, so I hope to see you all out in the live music world soon.
If this just isn't enough of the ARMIES for you, then buy the CD. It's a great way to support independent music, and also is a great gift. Who'd doens't like being told, "Happy Fall...with a chainsaw..."? Or girlfriends really like the classic, "You sure do look nice today...with a chainsaw..."! If that's still not enough, check out our PureVolume site. We've posted a number of live tracks from our show at the Flamingo Cantina in Austin, TX.
Formed in 2004, the Armies of Compassion wield a fresh, musical energy, fluency and ingenuity. Flirting with many genres but submitting to none, their music is deeply rooted in the innovation, experimentation and free-spiritedness associated with jazz and contemporary American music. Suggestively hinting at elements from a broad range of palettes including Latin, Rock, traditional Jazz, Funk, DrumnBass, Punk, Hip-Hop and R&B, the Armies of Compassion construct an intricate musical playground to be explored by the listener, laced with subtle meaning, clever allusions and youthful wit.
Over the past year we've put in a lot of time to our craft playing at a wide assortment of venues in many parts of the country:
