About me:
We Need Your Art...
The project is inspired by several experimental works, in particular the unique work of Derek Jarman. This is the first in a series of short pieces, which will be put together to form a feature film to be entered into national and international film festivals. The first of these pieces will be shot on multiple Super-8 cameras and will consult the life, death and rebirth of a work of art quite literally through a large public event.
We would like to invite you to take part in this project. We aim to invite a wide range of other artists to create a new piece, or donate an old piece of work to the project, which we will film, before destroying (with the creators knowledge and blessing). We hope to collect a sizable amount of work, which will be burnt in front of an audience (with permission from local council and fire services) on a large fireproof ‘canvas’. As they burn the pieces will blend into one another and stick to the canvas. The canvas will then be raised at the end of the film to reveal the birth of a brand new and unique piece of art that can be displayed where the film is shown.
One of the unique prospects of this project is that when the film is completed, we will also form a traveling exhibition to co-promote and raise awareness for the project. One of the key pieces of the gallery space would be this film, demonstrating a unique way of exhibiting a film and liberating cinema as an art form.
