The Ashwins started as somewhat of a joke: a sax player on drums, a guitarist that couldn’t play guitar, and, for a long time, a trombone playing the bass parts. All that has changed in the two and a half years since The Ashwins’ first practice in their friend’s basement in Bethesda, MD. The Ashwins have refined their sound and refined their talent with all of this hard work display on their first EP “The Ashwins Get Wasted In Your Basement.” The infectious stuck-your-head-all-day hooks, the tearing guitar riffs, and the kick-you-in-your-butt drums create music that ranges from Kelly Clarkson power-pop to NOFX punk; think Lars Fredrickson and The Bastards with a good dose of Mandy Moore.
Old roads can take you to places your imagination has never heard of. Like The Ashwins. Unimaginably great Ashwins! The only secrets we can share about our recipe are that we dig up the best Ashwins and cook with only the most respectable oil. One batch at a time, we pay tribute to this most honored vegetable. Crunchy, with all the Ashwins flavor sealed in, and just a little bit of salt or seasoning, these Ashwins are simply delicious. Our small factory is located in Bethesda, Maryland, just a stone's throw away from Route 11, the oldest paved route in the United States. This old road winds and stretches all the way from Northern New York to the Gulf of Mexico. It's a road rich with history and scenery, farms and small shops.
