-KURT HAS BEEN SMASHING BEATS SINCE HE WAS JUST A KID – ANYTHING TO DRIVE HIS SISTER CRAZY. WHAT BEGAN AS A WOODEN SPOON, POTS AND PANS AND LOADS OF EARPLUGS EVENTUALLY BECAME A WAY OF LIFE. WITH MORE THAN 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE, KURT HAS PLAYED WITH SOME OF THE BEST IN THE INDUSTRY. HE CURRENTLY BREAKS STICKS FOR THE ATHENS.

-A SEASONED PRO, THIS KID HAS BEEN PLAYING GUITAR SINCE HE COULD TALK. DUSTY STARTED SLAMMING THE BASS AFTER HE LOST HIS GUITAR SOMEWHERE AND HAD NOTHING ELSE TO PLAY.

Peter Holden – Lead Vocals/Guitar

Peter and Micah met and fell in love the fall of 2004. Not really. They actually drank too much one night and agreed to write a few tunes together. Instead they just sat around trying to think of a cool name for their project. Many beers and no brains later, they were an acoustic duo with a cool name: The Athens . . . from Sacramento.
Sober reality set in and The Athens recruited two more wannabes (really cool bands have more than two guys and a guitar). The Athens were ready to rock. Peter took over lead vocals – he was really desperate to get a girl. Micah had lots of girlfriends -- rock gods with guitars are hot. Dusty had his own bass and not only did he shred it, the kid could turn a room with his harmonies. The drummer, a seasoned pro, stellar musician and the only guy with a job, Kurtis, lived in the real world – you know, the one with four dorks and a song . . . A FU@%!G GREAT SONG!

The Athens can do it – and they’ll do it any way you want! The Athens take soulful melodies then add energetic, driving beats and throw in a hook impossible to ignore. Raw energy, naked honesty and vicious intensity saturate every moment with these northern California boys. These guys are in your face while they hold your hand.
