Almost as an "And Friends Band...We pull our members from a vast pool of great friends and family,to make the best music we can.The core members of the band are Wallace Wrede on Bass,Vocals and Guitar, Charlie O on Vocals Guitars, harmonicas and good will,, ...with appearences by Gene Belote on Fiddle , Karl "KW" Wrede on Guitars , and Bobby Shaw making the scene on guitars and other instuments !!! Bob Vnencak on Drums,Skins, Congas, and any other Percussion you can think of, and least we forget , Dave Emmons on Guitar , Mando and background vocals..Although Bob and Dave have moved on to separate projects , we wish them well and welcome them back anytime..They are family . We feel that family and friends are the most important recipie for music. With some of our own children involved in the Arts,we feel it almost nessesary to involve them in our music..Our Bass Players son Karl,is an absolutly incredible Guitar Player and we have him along with us alot of the time. Also our singers son Kevin has some great abilities and loves to sing with us on occasion. We have many musical friends from diverse backgrounds, which gives us the ability to play everything from Blues and Boogie to Soulful Ballads, and a bit of the Swamp music too....All in all....We have a great time doing what we do.and that my friends is what its all about...
Lagniappe (a little something extra thrown in...) There isnt much that we enjoy more,Than a little BBQ, some Green Label,a couple of Pabst Blue Ribbons, and a back porch filled with Friends , family and instruments...Its all good !!!
Influences
While there are way too many influences to list...We have been inspired by folks like Warren Haynes,Sonny Landreth,Duane Allman,Dickie Betts,Rory Gallagher,Many Jazz Greats like Karl Denson, Weather Report among others.. Bluegrass Greats... Also Chet Atkins, Many assorted Bluesmen from The Old masters who never gave a thought about labels or royalties. They just did it for the love of the music...To todays modern day Bluescats, like Gomes,Stoltz,Duarte, among others....American roots music inspires us as well..Woody Guthrie, David Bromberg, Railroad Earth,my bass player ,Wallace Wredes Father was an incredible American roots music, guitar player and writer...The list goes on and on....
Sounds Like
We like to think that we put our own spin on everything we do...You can hear a bit of each of the folks who have influenced us in the past...Either way your toe will be tapping
Welcome To The Cafe! Relax, have a seat and let us tell you about us !
The Voodoo Brotherhood is an eclectic mix of musicians from diverse backgrounds and musical tastes. Many times an acoustic act . Our varied roots are reflected in the music that we play . The Voodoo Brotherhood plays distinctive interpretations of everything from rock to country to jazz inspired jams with plenty of blues thrown in. Our original music is a spicy jambalaya of Delta and Chicago blues mixed with country rock and some incredible jamming! Our inspirational ballads reflect a love of family and tradition. With our Swamp style traditional music as an added flavor,we can reflect with family members about Great musicians and Family members that have passed on,or those who we believe hold certain Mojo for us individually.....
Its a plain and simple Philosophy....Family and Friends Matter...
The musical community that we are all involved in,from the tiniest of garage bands,to the biggest headliners....This is a community where all should be welcome !!!..

GREETINGS CHARLIE O000o0o0o and the rest of the ATLANTA CAFE BAND,
The NOLA Preservation Society outreach programs are going quite well because of so many giving and generous artists/musicians/dancers like yourselves! To date, our programs include musical instruction for grammar school students at the Boys and Girls Club, choir direction @ McNair Academic High School, MUSic/ArT/DaNcE Therapy @ A.Harry Moore School, and visual art education for grammar school students @ P.S. 24. Are Y'all up for doing a benefit concert in the month of April? We got a great venue near the Seton Hall Campus that would love to have us. Let us know... Peace. Love. Prosper.
Warmest Regards, Daniel and the NOLA PRESERVATION SOCIETY
