Theatre In The Pound is a monthly artslab/scratchnight run by the Cockpit Theatre in London.
Pound is a not-for-profit night designed to provide an opportunity for individuals or groups of theatre practitioners to showcase or try out new work.
With the audience entry fee at £1 per head, Theatre In The Pound is easily affordable to all. As well as welcoming theatre enthusiasts and practitioners through the doors, Pound is accessible to those who would not normally go to the theatre. It’s the perfect evening to try something new. cockpittheatre.org.uk/pound
By the way, the name 'Theatre In The Pound' -
The Cockpit Theatre is London's first purpose built theatre-in-the-round since The Great Fire in 1666. Implausable but true! (Source:Pevsner's Buildings of England)
And it only cost a pound for a ticket. There you have it.
The Cockpit is a flexible space and usually set up in thrust, rather than round. This layout can seat 180 people.
我想認識: Theatre In The Pound is hoping to meet performers, writers, directors, theatre companies and others interested in forging new working relationships and developing original theatrical ideas.
Our MySpace friends...
Now we're not being snooty, but we don't add everyone (no scammers, spammers or novelty profiles etc). So be assured that if you click one of our friends you will find a person, group, project, show or venue with an interest in theatre or related arts.
All our friends are theatre folk (and other creative types). Have a look through through the list and see who you find and what they're up - This is about networking after all!
Fun evening last night, enjoyed The Onion Experiment and the Songs of Kleptomania the most, although Zephyrus dreams made me think twice about physical theatre, loved the interaction, and the swooping stained glass knight was awesome. I would deffo see that in its entirety. Good assortment, back next month!
We've made a theatrical interview video with Electro DJ Jojo de Freq. It's funny and interesting, check it out!
We've also got a new video of our workshop on chairs and racism, visit the site to have a look! Don't worry, no hidden ads for viagra there =) Just the usual craziness...

Do you think there are sides of your lover that they keep hidden from you? How far would you go to expose them? And how prepared are you for the consequences of doing so?
Matt likes to push Billy around in the office. Billy thinks he knows why. Tonight, at the company's football clubhouse, he gets his chance to prove it. And Matt's devoted girlfriend is watching their every move...

"Paul is endowed with a splendid, embarrassed ponderousness by O’Brien, while McMorrow nicely captures Jenna’s adolescent confusion... Prestwich’s suggestive script sketches intriguing connections... a bold piece of work that engages on many levels"
Time Out **** - Show of the Week & Critics Choice
"Becky Prestwich's powerful drama"
"Emma McMorrow captures perfectly the solitude and vulnerability of Jenna... Alison Eve is outstanding... Prestwich has furnished her characters with convincing and consistent personal histories and the cast, under the careful direction of Adam Quayle, fleshes them out admirably in this genuinely moving piece."
The Stage
"Thoughtfully directed by Adam Quayle, Streetlights And Shadows is a stirring and sensitive play... A gifted cast bring real depth to the four very different characters and at times the atmosphere truly becomes one of mystery mixed with enchantment."
