Who I'd like to meet:
Theatre of Note ("Note" serving as an acronym for "New One-Act Theatre Ensemble") was founded in 1981 by U.C. Irvine grads Kevin Carr, Gary Lamb, Jim Schendel, Art Cybulski and Mare Gordon. Initially intended to showcase what was at the time an under-appreciated form, Note now produces an average of five plays per year with an emphasis on world, west coast, California, and Los Angeles premieres (including works such as Bertolt Brecht's The Duchess of Malfi and Tony Kushner's A Bright Room Called Day). Note also produces the famous annual Hollywood Performance Marathon, the late night Original Five-Minute One Act Play Series, Noteworthy new play development workshops, and our educational outreach program The Young Writer's project.
Note has earned consistent commendation from the Los Angeles Press and national acclaim from such publications as American Theatre Magazine, as well as dozens of accolades, nominations and honors from every award-granting theatre alliance in Southern California.
Winner of the 2007 Reader's Choice Awards for Backstage Magazine, Note is a favorite among audiences avidly seeking its challenging subject matter and uncanny, ingenious use of the beloved black-box space on Cahuenga in Hollywood.
Step into Theatre of Note. You never know if you'll be licked...or bitten.
"It is the quintessential L.A. black box,...I have seen this narrow, unforgiving space transformed by novel seating arrangements, by innovative designers and directors, but above all by a bunch of actors, a rotating ensemble of wildly various types with a remarkably consistent theatrical orientation:...Indeed, among L.A.'s edgy theatre companies, Theatre of NOTE stands out not just for its wide, weird talent pool,... but for the raw, rangy aesthetic they've developed. These actors do new plays (and the occasional old one) with a disarmingly earnest hunger and a vigorous, unwinking playfulness that's less about perfect theatrical craft than about creating true, unfettered theatrical moments. And while this is the ultimate mission of any true theatre artist, few L.A. actors' groups do it with the same bracing commitment, year in and year out. ...But NOTE is more ragged, more diverse, less deliberate, more punk, basically, than its circumspect peers. L.A. theatre has many great actors at its disposal, and too few indigenous treasures like Theatre of NOTE, where such actors can stretch and fail with grace, or stretch and land home with direct impact." - Rob Kendt, Back Stage West
Mission Statement : We at Theatre of NOTE are an enduring ensemble of diverse theatre artists in the heart of Hollywood who inspire, inform, and ignite our audiences by discovering courageous voices and creating entertaining, provocative, and revelatory theatrical works.

I had what I thought was a small scrape on top of my left wrist. It itched for days. Finally, I looked at it with magnification, and found that it looks like a bite, a spider bite. Apparently, that spider web that formed before I finished the lawn, which I walked into blindly after dark, hosted such a sneak attack against me. Incidentally, my most recent ghost photo shoot was on the spider theme. I didn't know till I got home, and looked at the photos.
