Howdy Pardners, Jel Tyson here. Well so much has transpired the past few months. The Autrys re-grouped for a handful of shows, 'Silvies, The Horseshoe, and a Wonderful Christmas Show at 'Fitzgeralds' to name but a few. It's near impossible with the high calibre of musicians that you come in contact with to maintain a stable lineup. Most of the players are for want of a better word, "Hired Guns." Most play with one or two different bands which is not a bad thing. However, it puts you in a very awkward position. You have to juggle lineups, etc. After our last show at Bernices Tavern January of this year, I took time off to re-evaluate my situation with The Autrys. Being the singer-songwriter and last original member of the band. I really needed to make some tough decisions regarding the current lineup. I basically felt that as the leader, I had lost a lot of control with various arrangements and my guitar playing had suffered. I felt I had a lot more to give than just strumming my gretsch. We have been rehearsing at my studio on the south side of Chicago with a terrific new lineup consisting of FR. Hilbun guitar, mandolin. Darren Thompson bass vocals and Mike Mikalunas, drums. The past six weeks. I want to sincerely thank all of the musicians that have passed thru' The Autrys the last few years. I have enjoyed playing with them all and wish them the best.
