   About The Avenues
Two EP’s down, one killer debut album ready to roll. Life for The Avenues is about to get busy. Formed in 2003, The Avenues have made a name as one of Perth’s best exponents of melodic rock. With two successful EP’s (The Avenues – Feb 2004/ Slow Moving – May 2005) that achieved national airplay and strong media reviews behind them, the Avenues have grown into an emotive and powerful outfit ready to take the next big step up. Their live shows are tight, captivating, with a powerful dynamic presence. Playing with some of Australia’s top acts plus touring nationally and internationally over the past three years has helped harden their gig feet that are going to carry them on up that hill. Their forthcoming debut album ‘All That You Are’ marks the beginning of the next phase of the existence of The Avenues, with the recording marking both new song-writing styles for the band and a new depth to their sound. Eighteen songs were demoed in March 2006 with the majority of the writing coming from guitarist/ vocalist Andy Lawson. Making themselves home at Perth’s Blackbird Studios with 2006 WAMI Award winning producer Dave Parkin (Red Jezebel/ Panda Band/ Snowman), ‘All That You Are’ was recorded from April to May 2006. With a more layered and lush sound, and an almost darker edge to the album it shows a side of The Avenues that will surprise many, yet delight even more in aural pleasure. The Avenues, Please note the new RecordScout.com website is live! We have so many new
features all aimed at unsigned, and signed bands looking for valuable exposure.
Previously it was just a directory for unsigned bands but our new launch
includes MP3 and Video exposure as well as photo galleries. Encourage your fans
to sign up and vote for you. When we go live with our national radio coverage
the charts will be announced weekly! Unfortunately previous bands and artists
will have to set up an new account from scratch but it is worth it!

Thanks for the support The Avenues!

Hi and thanks so much for the add! About my music...I'm a singer/songwriter form San Diego, CA. I took an extended trip around the world with a travel-guitar and wrote tons of music. It was the experience of a lifetime. My new record "Without a Bridge" is 'pay what you like' and you can download it off my site. I hope you find something you like. All the best, -Zank www. zankMusic. com

Reform APRA

Sep 30 2008 9:32 AM

Hi The AvenueS, Some interesting info for you, if your music is with APRA. ASCAP is the rights organization in the US. Their bill of rights state. -We have the right to license our works and control the ways in which they are used. -We have the right to choose when and where our creative works may be used for free. Contact APRA and ask them why these freedoms that are available to artists in the US are not available to artists in Australia. Do you want a real business of music that is able compete with the system in the US? Do you want your content to allways be priced at the same price as large bands like the red hot chilly pepars? Why do you have no choice? is the union of APRA positive for your music when every home has an internet connection and the internet is a copy machine? Did you write your songs to be heard or to get a royalty? Don't you need the right to make your work free when the publishers reject it? Why do US composers and songwriters demand these rights? Australian artists can join and transfer to ASCAP. You just have to send in a paper application form, rather than join online. You would be able to do more with tunes with these rights within your community. http://www. ascap. com/rights/
