Hailing from an Island right off the New York City coast, The Awakening is a 6 piece band from Long Island, NY. With backrounds in various Long Island bands including Get Laced!, Casari and Fear In Your Eyes. The Awakening formed in Febuary of 2008, self released an ep (Understanding Goodbyes) and went on to tour only a few months later in July with Thieves And Villains (Victory Records). Right after tour, The Awakening disbanded with no thoughts of moveing foward.
In april of 2009 The Awakening was brought back together with Jerry Nedrow and Joe Votta being original members, Mike D'amico as a new vocalist, Rich Urraro as a new guitarist, Zack Austin as a new drummer as well as Jason Bach on synth. The new lineup is more intense with brilliantly catchy choruses, astounding technicality, and talent for finding an exceptional balance between heavy and melodic genres. Within less than 3 weeks The Awakening has written an ep, and has began to record it.
