Looking at todays out-for-self rap scene, its difficult to recall a time when an emcee and a producer had a relationship that was more symbiotic than parasitic. Celebrated duos like Eric B and Rakim, Gangstarr (Guru and DJ Premier), Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, and even DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince all saw their musical partnerships as a foundation, not a steppingstone to something more lucrative. One twosome hoping to add their own chapter to Hip-Hops two-man Hall of Fame is emcee Sean Boog and producer Khrysis, better known as The Away Team. Fans who have been keeping up with the burgeoning North Carolina-based Justus League should already be at least somewhat familiar with the duos work. Sean Boogs vocals have graced various releases including Foreign Exchanges Connected, while Khrysis work behind the boards was a major factor in the success of Big Poohs solo LP, Sleepers. This year, the Away Team gets to add their own bolt to the JL blitzkrieg with their new album, National Anthem.
