the axe wounds started in august 2005. basically, luke senter & robert partin, members of the abilene pipers, wanted to start an irish/scottish pub band that wasnt just bagpipes, so we got together with michael mcfarland, father jared and dirindia kelley and formed the band.
the band really didnt care about a name and humorously talked about using the name, axe wounds. knowing it sounded like a death metal name, we kept it due to the lack of care, and thus the axe wounds were born.
we strive to entertain and educate West Texans that there are other instruments out there along with other types of music besides country music. where do you think bluegrass and country came from?
