   About The Axidents
Free Image Hosting Axidents guitarist, Flembo (aka Mark Fleming) is following in the footsteps of John Lydon, Adam Ant, Mark E Smith, Hugh Cornwell and Arturo Bassick - he has written a book. His novel, BrainBomb was officially published on Thursday 25 June by Chipmunka who promote writing about mental health issues. BrainBomb is set in Edinburgh, and features sex, drugs, punk rock n roll, violence and a lot of those words Bill Grundy didn't like. Based on some of Fleming's own experiences, BrainBomb is about a young gadge who is diagnosed with depression in the 80's, eventually flying off the rails to wind up in psychiatic hospital. There's also a lot of background, including flashbacks to magic mushroom trips, the Clash's White Riot tour, the mod v punk riots (Princes Street), biker v punk riots (Forfar), as well as the post-punk scene when local bands practiced and got mashed in the basement bowels of the old Regent cinema. And if all that wasn't enough, there are fantasy sequences where the lead character does a spot of imaginary time-travelling and finds himself a cleaver-weilding member of the Tongs in the Gorbals in the 50s, or in the middle of a Nazi riot in Nurembeg in the 30s, or up to his knees in gore during a medieval battle. One critic said: "Fleming's debut novel is lurid. It's a bang bang bang mish mash which steams along at a million miles an hour. The astonishing thing is that this novel is seventy thousands words. The pace is so ferocious it reads more like twenty thousand". You can order it direct from Mark for £10 - drop him an email at ninewoodbine@hotmail.com. and he'll arrange to hand it over, in person, or at an Axidents gig. He'll even sign it for you.
