The Baby Train came to fruition in the summer of 2007 when Marcus Ricci (formerly of Chicago’s The Foster-Walker Complex) entered a Chicago recording studio with his acoustic guitar, a glockenspiel, a melodica, and a fierce desire to sing about his feelings. Three days and twelve tracks later, Ricci emerged with Sorcerer, a record of fearlessly emotive indie pop with a country twang. Ricci relocated to Brooklyn just ten days after finishing the recording, where he’s been actively performing and writing since. His new record, The Year of Fruition, was written and recorded in his bedroom.
