A banda surgiu no início de 2006 para fazer rock and roll, sob o nome de The Envy Hearts. O grupo, formado por Emanuel Mastrella (vocais/guitarra), Gustavo de Carvalho (guitarra/backing vocals), Rafael Gomes (baixo) e Sérgio Henrique (bateria) logo conseguiu destaque na cena goiana. Com um ano de estrada, Rafael Gomes se afasta da banda e em seu lugar entra Rodrigo Borges.
Com essa formação, a banda participa de festivais de peso como o Festival Bananada e Rock In Sopa. Em novembro de 2007, Rodrigo deixa a banda para dedicar-se a outros projetos. Gilberto Lima assume o cargo de baixista e alguns meses depois a banda muda o nome para The Backbiters.

The band started early in the year 2006 to rock and roll with the name The Envy Hearts. The band, Emanuel Mastrella (vocals and rhythm guitar), Gustavo de Carvalho (lead guitar/backing vocals), Rafael Gomes (bass) e Sérgio Henrique (drums), soon was under the spotlights in Goiânia. After one year on the road, Rafael Gomes steps down as bass player and Rodrigo Borges takes his place.
With that formation, the band plays on important festivals like Festival Bananada e Rock In Sopa. In November of 2007, Rodrigo leaves the band to dedicate to other projects. Gilberto Lima is now the bass player and a couple of months later the band changes its name to The Backbiters.
Em 2008 a banda se apresenta em importantes festivais (Grito Rock Brasilia, Bananada 2008, 14º Goiania Noise, Rock In Sopa...) e no início de 2009 a banda lança o seu primeiro cd com 12 faixas autorais, pela Monstro Discos.
