Bad Influence has been rocking houses since their humble beginnings back in 1988. Since then, they have been playing for growing crowds of blues lovers everywhere along the East Coast and are continuing to pick up speed! In addition to the band's regular tour schedule, they have also played festivals such as the Western Maryland Blues Fest, the Blue Bird Blues Festival, the Great Eastern Blues Festival, the Taste of DC, the National Capital BBQ Battle, the Kennedy Center, and multiple appearances at the NAMM shows. Most recently they have been featured on the nationwide radio show, The Mike O'Meara Show. In fact, there doesn't seem to be anything this versatile band can't do!
Their third CD, which won the Washington Area Music Association award for best blues recording of 2001, Tastes Like Chicken is living proof of this 11 of the 12 songs are Bad Influence originals! They were nominated for 3 more Wammie awards in 2003, 2004 & 2006 - Best Blues Band, Michael Tash for Blues Instrumentalist and Roger Edsall for Blues Vocalist.
The band provides a sound fat enough to do justice to blues and swing classics ranging from Louis Jordan to B.B. King to Stevie Ray Vaughan. According to Northern Virginia Rhythm Magazine, seeing Bad Influence is "a night to enjoy well-played, up-tempo rhythm and blues...Bad Influence makes the blues jump!"
Ever-growing crowds turn out for the band's scorching hot and sinfully addicting blues-infused fare, charged with a masterful blend of sensuously rough edges wrapped in soulful smoothness, riveting rock currents and potent shots of swing and American roots. All this is signed, sealed and delivered in a suggestive, in-your-face finesse captivating even the most stoic of mind, body and spirit.
The award-winning Bad Influence features Bob Mallardi on bass and vocals; Hohner endorsed artist Roger Edsall on harp and vocals; Epiphone endorsed artist Michael "Jr" Tash on guitar and vocals; and David Thaler on the drums.
Now, come see firsthand what it's all about. Simply put, you'll find yourself moving to the band's original blend of Chicago blues, swing, American roots and tinge of rock, packaged in an energy-charged delivery that consistently pleases both blues fanatics and non-blues fans alike.
