“The rich, lush sound of the opening moments of this performance drew the audience in and held it until the standing ovation and cheers for more at the end. This performance was an oasis for the romantics, a great end to a hectic week, a great show”.
Jim Mack, The Independent Weekly
Straight from the heart and reminiscent of a smoky, French cafe. Guitarist & vocalist John Baker and accordianist Gayle Buckby create a seductive and potent world with compelling stories and lush instrumentation that carry the listener through elegant ballads, gypsy reggae and a lurching waltz in the rain at night.
Their latest album, A Quartet for Car Horns and Brakes was produced by Paul Grabowsky and will be released in February 2010.
Baker and Buckby are regularly joined by John Aue on double bass and Bj Barker on drums. Special guests at occasional performances include Paul Grabowsky on piano and Karen De Nardi (viola).
Highlight performances include the International Guitar Festival, the Spiegeltent, the National Folk Festival and the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. They have also performed in Kyoto, Japan and New Zealand. They will be performing a spotlight performance at the Australasian Performing Arts Market, Adelaide in February 2010.

Yes, I got it and I love it..alot. I sent you an email about paying for it, that I guess you didn't get. I asked if I can pay into your bank as I don't have a cheque account. I can't tell you how much I love your writing(and playing and singing) I do some bar work at my day job at the Northcote Town Hall and your CD has been getting a flogging , for what it's worth. Love Brent

Pretty sure it was Luckys show.. or maybe it was the Music Show on ABC National.. one of the two.. they mentioned you guys were playing with Grabowski as well. Sorry I can't be more precise.. it's complicated.. there was paint, canvas, turps and wine at the time.. :)
We managed to squeeze into the 7pm show at The Promethean last night. It was just brilliant and so inspiring to see you play. You must have been delighted at the turn out. Well done....I have been playing the new CD all day today - 5/5 for me.
