Writing sports columns for The Oregonian, blogging on Oregonlive.com, sharing my opinions and thoughts on the goings on in the sports world on my radio show "The Bald-Faced Truth" on 95.5 the game, shaving my head, the gym, good food, play basketball and softball, engage in subtrafuge, coloring and drawing pictures with my daughter, telling the truth, stimulating healthy discussion about life, and sports.
Rinse. Repeat.
Music
Anything worth listening to... mood-driven.
Movies
Shawshank Redemption, Rounders, The Godfather, 12 Angry Men, Rear Window, Citizen Kane, There Will Be Blood, Saving Private Ryan, Raging Bull, Hotel Rwanda, The Prestige, Braveheart, Bladerunner, Million Dollar Baby, The Sixth Sense, The Big Lebowski, The Graduate, Crash, Scarface, Fight Club, Big Fish, Rope... love movies. If someone is going to spend $300 million in an attempt to entertain me, I will sit and watch.
Television
The Wire (I have all of the seasons). Seriously. Best series ever on television. That's ever. Period. Nothing is close. Am I being clear here?
Books
Anything Hemingway, anything Hawthorne... Jack London's short stories... Vonnegut... Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood," maybe, too, Jimmy Breslin's "I Want to Thank My Brain for Remembering Me." David Simon's "The Corner"... and any column by Mike Royko. Michael Connelly is great. If you're a sports reader, try Troon McAllister's "The Green" for a treat. Dan Jenkins rocks, too.
Heroes
Every parent who cares. Every teacher who cares. You... if you care.
