In no particular order: Beatles, Bowie, Luke Haines, Stephen Duffy, PRML SCRM, Beach Boys, Suede/Tears, McFly, Velvets/Reed/Cale, Bolan, Ian Brown, Sparks, Spector, Medazzaland-era Duran, Ultrasound, Killers, Kylie, Marion, Shed 7, Monkees/Nesmith, Blur/Coxon/Gorillaz/GBQ, Smiths/Morrissey, Take That, Julian Cope, Prince, McAlmont & Butler, Klaxons, Manics, The Dears, Lemonheads, Abba, Syd Barrett/Pink Floyd, New Order/Joy Division/Electronic, Clash, Pistols/PIL, Buzzcocks, Eno, Scissor Sisters, Ride, Dexys, Super Furry Animals, Serge Gainsbourg, Belle & Sebastian, Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Richard X, Love, Doors, Kinks, Who, Stones, Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, Iggy Pop, Abba, Madness, Tottenham Hotspur ...and a whole bunch of other stuff;
Cambodian 60's pop, James Bond themes (up to and including The Living Daylights), Motown/Stax/Atlantic, Krautrock... the list is endless.
So anyway a band called Console has existed in one form or another since the dark days of 1998. Each line-up has included Leo Collett singing & playing guitar and Sam Hemmings on bass.
Due to various talent/music/temperament issues we never achieved a stable line-up until Steve Milton joined on drums five years ago. About a year later after playing as a 3 piece in November ’04 Dan Wright joined under the pretence of being a keyboard player. Pretty quickly he became the main guitarist with occasional keyboards.
Over the years all we’ve done is a couple of E.P.s and a few support slots with some well-known bands (The Libertines, Brittish Sea Power, Six By Seven, Clinic, Willard Grant Conspiracy), a whole bunch of awful bands that you would wonder how they got signed (It would be rude to name them here) and the occasional godlike genius (Luke Haines).
Finally in the position we should have been in back in ’98 we have our very own ‘White-Album’ being put out by the lovely Golden Pathway label.
