'Preacher' Like the battle of Yen and Yang, Jeremiah Jermaine Paul; his mother giving him the Biblical name Jeremiah and his father giving him the streetwise name Jermaine; you might call this kid a mix up of some kind. Born in a musical family of ten children, the youngest of the older half of the Paul clan, some say this child was destined for greatness. Raised in the tough streets of New York, Jermaine begin tagging a name for him self when singing while playing the drums at local churches and talent shows with his family at the tender age of 8. Jermaine recalls playing on books with forks and spoons to practice for sunday church service and family gigs. Today he reveals that the drums is what eventually led him to Hip Hop music. With a genuine love for singing , at age 10, he joined numerous adult choirs, mostly working as a secret weapon for older mature crowd. Than labeled the young Michael Jackson of Gospel, In many instances he was told "Don't Cry, SING!" And thats just what he did. Jermaine's anointed voice and breathtaking musicianship stood out, and the entire family and church knew that he would not be denied his destiny; to sing and touch the world with his music. Claiming his own style of singing, a mixture of wailing and weeping , making you listen to every word that came out his mouth, he made you believe that their was a man trapped inside his little scrawny boy frame. At the age of 12 Jermaine and his older brother Charles moved to Alabama with his grandfather to help preserve the family farm. There he was introduced to the guitar. Never getting lessons, he played his step-grandmothers old gibson at the local church. He begin listening to r/b music and imitating the voices of yesterdays greats like Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke, just to name a few. With a little knowledge of the guitar and the yearning to go back to New York, he wrote his first blues song. He learned to embrace the country air and to this day considers himself a country boy rather than a city b-boy. At age 14 he returned home only to find that the family had moved to a nicer cleaner suburb. Now attending a predominately white high school, he was introduced to rock, alternative music, and for the first time, piano. He and his brother Charles became a member of a four guy R/B group named 1Accord. In high school he was a part of the all-state chorus, and a classically trained Voice Ensemble. Rejecting a basketball scholarship to Syracuse University at the age of 17, Jermaine with his group 1Accord signed to, Shaquille O'neil's label, Twisim Records. Giving him the opportunity to tour South East Asia, play basketball along side Shaq and other NBA stars, perform as an opening act for Shaq and Peter gunz & Lord Tariq and write, sing and produce with a host of producers and artist in the likes of Marry J Blige, Brandy, Blackstreet, Kelly Price, Christopher Williams, Peter Gunz & Lord Tariq, Shaquille O'Neil, Corey Rooney, Rodney Jerkins, and of course Alicia Keys. He also, as the lead singer of 1Accord, recorded a song that appeared on the movie soundtrack Bootycall featuring Jamie Fox. Determined to reach his dreams, he than begin crafting his writing skills and producing songs of his own. At 22, Jermaine joined a live band named FOCUS and reeked havoc on the showcase circuit in the tri-state area. Performing memorable original songs that take audiences on an emotional roller-coaster, FOCUS has become a house hold name in the music industry today. The stage is set. He has paid many dues, and witnessed the prominent success of his peers and now taken destiny into his own hands. In all efforts to be a solo act, with the support of his band FOCUS, Jermaine is determined to capture the crown of R/B with a his mellow tenor, powerful high natural, soothing falsetto, the ability to play live instruments, write and produce his own music with timeless lyrics. Now traveling extensively throughout the world as an opening act and background vocalist to the 9-time grammy award winner Alicia Keys, also featured on the ..1 smash hit, grammy nominated duet "Diary", the road has been cleared and the world awaits for the coming of the Secret Man. 'One that makes or repairs locks and usually has the master key to most doors.' As does Nate a.k.a Locksmiff, he makes repairs of any broken heart with the keys that he so gracefully strokes as he captivates your mind body & soul. Nate one of the oldest members of FOCUS (23yrs old) is an accomplished keyboard player/producer from Amityville Ny. At the tender age of 12 he became interested in playing the piano. Listening to artist such as Stevie Wonder, Prince, & Jimmy smith. By age 14 he started producing and writing songs. At age 15 he began playing at his church every sunday, therefor polishing his playing and perfroming skills. In the fall of 99' he enrolled at Five Towns College in Dixhills Ny. Where such artist as Mariah Carey, Nina Sky, Olivia , Wyclef Jean, & Billy Joel attended at some point . Majoring in Audio Recording Nate wanted to produce real music for real artist. In the fall of 01' already working as a producer the idea of FOCUS was introduced to him . And would forever change his life. Now as keyboard player/producer of FOCUS. New oppurtunities have emerged becuase of the hard work that FOCUS has put in. Nate has played on or produced tracks with hip hop legend Grandmaster Flash , Kerry KRUCIAL Brothers of Krucial Keys, legendary motown guitarist Wah Wah Watson , Dawayne Wiggins Of Tony Toni Tone' & Shawn Kane. Also has perform with Blu Cantrell, Little G of SILK, and is currently on tour with SONY recording artist Lyfe. Jaystarr is a 20 yr old drummer/producer who has been playing drums for 10yrs,and producing for the last 4yrs.he has shown some of his producing an drumming skills on the new hit single by kiesha cole" I just want it to be over". Jaystarr is just one member of the 6 guys that every1 knows as focus.jaystarr also is touring on the road @ this present time playing for lyfe jennings along side 3 other members for focus,who happen 2 b opening up for john legend on this 2005 "get lifted" summer tour. 'an instrument low in pitch or tone.' DBass- a self taught bass player who began @ the age of 13. DBass is the youngest member of Focus who currently attends Five Towns College in NY studying Commercial Jazz performance and composition. His on stage presence exudes his passion for performing and displays an exuberant love for music. DBass is also a very versatile bassist that studies many different genres of music and also plays the piano and percussion. His favorite artist, composers and songwriters include; Prince, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Earth Wind and Fire, Gap Band, Dizzy Gillespe, Charles Mingus, Ella Fitzgerald, Johann Sebastian Bach, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Richard Smallwood, Toné, Sting, Billy Joel, Raphael Saddiq, and Patti Labelle. Donald a.k.a 'DLegacy' Donald "dlegacy" puts melodie n emotion in action through sound n sight, as he uses his sexophone to mesmarize the lust of women. He doesn't just play the horn he also sings n dances in a way that will make any looker sweat his enery is a sight to see, how he moves while playing is a wonder. From the being dlegacy had an interest in music, he started singing at the early age of 2yrs 14 hrs n 30 secs, he began using his voice with a group could faith, hope and charity with his mother n sister. No wonder he is the musicain he is today. He got his inspiration from his mother with sang gospel n blues in for jessie jackson n many others. Throughout the years dlegacy has picked up different instruments so he could express himself in more ways. He has been in group from rap, gospel to r n b like sabach n choosen in gosel, ghostland in rap n nv n now focus. He has work with people from donnie mcclerklan, keith shockly, dr. Dre from hot 97, olivia, n palyed with many other like little g from silk, blu cantrel, freddie jackson n many others. He is a song writter/ saxophonist/ dancer/ keyboard player/ all u need him to be.... So injoy the from n watch the legacy continue. Andrew a.k.a 'AXE' Known to many as AXE aka Pimpjuice of FOCUS Andrew Tardieu was born and raised in Huntington station, Long Island, NY. Hes the lead guitarist of this hot new FOCUS movement. When Andrew was 11 his mother gave him a guitar for christmas. His first thoughts were "what am I suppose to do with this!?!" As a young boy he's always wanted to be a drummer and pursued it, he played drums in his church for 2 years and cut a gospel album with his church group. Andrew AxeTardieu grew up in church along side him was fellow bandmate Dbass aka David Holder. Threw the years Andrew developed a stronger love for his music and realized the guitar was the instrument best for him. Moms know best! Late 2001 Andrew received an invitation from good friend Dbass to try out for a group he had jus joined. From the day of that audition on Axe was the perfect fit for Focus. At 20 yrs old he has developed much skill and knowledge of his craft and has also managed to keep the artistic side of his talent new and fresh with ripping hot licks and smooth toned chords, which is exactly what being FOCUS means.

THE FOCUS GROUP... There's no question that when these six young men decided to bring their individual musical talents and complete dedication to their crafts together, they hadn't just formed a group, they had embarked on a journey. They were born for this day, and this is their purpose. Six gifted young men with an intense Focus on success. And a united dream of becoming one of the greatest bands in history, from the gritty streets of New York, that span from the Bronx all the way to the tip of Long Island, is certainly NOT an easy find. But as destiny would have it, these six stars aligned and their quest for a place in history would begin. Fueled with nothing but sheer determination, ambition, and stars in their eyes, it was only fitting that they name themselves, FOCUS. Besides their universal love for music, they all come from humble beginnings and were each raised in the church, both playing and singing at early ages. Jermaine, Jason, Nate, Donald, Dave and Andrew comprise this wonderful team of talent. And, boy, have these guys been BUSY!! Jermaine Paul is the front man of the group. He was hand picked by Alicia Keys herself, out of the crowd one night at a club to come onstage for an impromptu performance for her. She was so impressed with Jermaine's talent that night. she later invited him to become one of her background singers to hold her down as she put the finishing touches on her now multi-platinum album, The Diary of Alicia Keys. Jermaine then went on to record the Grammy nominated song, "Diary" with Ms. Keys that turned out to be one of the years best duet collaborations of 2004. In this past year alone, Jermaine has toured all over the world with Alicia Keys promoting Diary as well as being the opening act for her tour. He has appeared on every television show from Oprah Winfrey to The American Music Awards and from The Today Show to David Letterman & Jay Leno. Proving yet again his phenomenal musical abilities, Jermaine wrote & produced the song Soldiers Cry for Alicia Keys MTV Unplugged Album for which he & Alicia teamed up again to duet together. Recognizing a true talent on the verge of stardom, the incomparable Mr. Quincy Jones signed on to personally arrange & orchestrate, "Soldiers Cry". And while Jermaine Paul has been out taking over the world both internationally & stateside, the remaining members of FOCUS have been touring the East coast and Midwest with new Sony recording artist, Lyfe. As well as recording in the studio with hit producer Kerry Brothers of Krucial Keys on records for Alicia Keys, new R&B artist Keyshia Cole & Heather Headley. They've created a buzz for every underground and well known club all over NYC Village Underground w. Ron Grant, Nell's w. Lynn Lock away, Soul Café w. Maria Davis, Jimmy's Uptown w. KISS FM, Ashford & Simpson's spot the Sugar Bar w. Stephanie Mills and BB King's w. Alicia Keys, Wyclef Jean, Rah Digga, Blu Cantrell and other signed artists.
