i think i read somewhere that these guys in soviet-era russia wanted to get out. they decided to become jazz musicians and they called their band "raleigh," and soon enough they were sent to play a tour of the world by the government. ah, yes: their dreams came true and they defected to america.
i can't recall if they continued playing after that or not. the name stuck with me.
It was very nice to meet all of you last week. Hopefully, we can do it again under better circumstances. We would love to see all of your beautiful faces at our cd release this weekend at the Meadowlark.
