Mal Simms (guitar, vocals, bodhran and whistles). Mal is a veteran of the folk scene and
brings his mature knowledge of folk music to the band. A fine singer, guitarist and whistle
player, Mal has a reputation as a great Bodhran player, and has toured as a solo artist and
with Legacy throughout Britain, Ireland and Europe.
Elaine Carey (vocals, flute, whistle).
Elaine is the newest member of the Band and was
invited to join them in May this year, after her stunning performance as a guest musician at
their last concert at the Windmill Theatre. Elaine hails from Dublin and brings an Irish
influence to the band. Her roots are in classical and traditional music, with haunting vocals
and fine flute playing.
Tim Cotterell (fiddle and mandolin). Tim’s talent on the fiddle is legendary. He is also a
fine mandolin and tenor banjo player He has gained a wide range of experience touring
Europe and Ireland with Legacy and more recently with Martha Tilston.
Sarah Mooney (flute, whistles and guitar). Sarah is a stunning musician and brings great
energy and drive to Triskel. Sarah plays in several other bands, including Blackthorn and
has performed at many festivals and venues throughout the UK.
Alex Percy (fiddle, guitar, melodeon). One of the new generation of superb musicians to
emerge on the Folk scene, Alex is a fantastic fiddle player, guitarist and box player. He has been performing at festivals and folk clubs since the
age of 15 and, as a member of Beltane, toured the UK. He has a vast amount of
experience as a performer and always performs with enthusiasm and energy.
Triskel first came together in 2006 after playing together at various music sessions.
originally to perform some gigs for the Irish Tourist Board in London and Brighton.
They have since gone on to play concerts at various local Art Centres and Festivals
throughout the UK and always have a fantastic response from the audience. This is due to
their enthusiasm for the music; delivered with great drive and energy, which audiences find
very exciting and refreshing.
Triskel have a unique sound and style and, although their music is mainly drawn from
Ireland and Scotland, their repertoire also includes material from other parts of Britain and
Europe.
