Bio
......Free MySpace Layouts by Iron Spider................ ..The Band Who Cares - Stone Free...... .. .. .. .. .. The Band Who Cares has been around the Chicagoland area in the Western Suburbs for more than twenty years in some form or another. Originally formed by bass & sax player, Ed Behrens, the group has hosted an impressive and varied lineup of top local musicians. Back in the days of Malo's Rock 'n Roll Studio in Aurora, IL, the crowds were always big for a smaller club (200+), and they were wired & fired up. .. In it's heyday, Malo's Rock and Roll Studio hosted the likes of national/international acts ranging from Edgar Winter to Motorhead to Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad) to Ronnie Montrose to Molly Hatchett as well as many others. .. The band re-formed in May of 2007 to open for long time friends & international psychedelic heavy metal band, ..Trouble... Now a power trio, these life-long musicians continue to rock out with extended versions of cool jams and plenty of original music too. .. They are currently working on their new self-recorded & produced CD, Twisted Fingers... Please enjoy a pre-release mix of the title track at ..thebandwhocares.musicnation.com.. or purchase a download of the single on this page. SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT ARTISTS! BUY THEIR STUFF!!! .. Peace and JAM ON! .. Ed Behrens: Bass & backing vocals, saxophone .. Founder of Who Cares, Ed Behrens started the band about 25 years ago after a long stint with Studebaker Hawk as sax man. Realizing he could have more opportunities playing live by switching to bass guitar, he did just that to follow his passion for music and audience interaction. He started out his musical career as a kid in the school band playing sax. He has played with and supported numerous Chicago area musicians for the majority of his life. He is best known for his stage presence and his solid, in-the-pocket rhythms that anchor the songs no matter the style. Loyal Who Cares followers have anticipated for years his live show ritual of playing barefoot & asking the audience, "Did anybody bring their mom?" Well did they?... .. Andy Driscoll: Lead vocals, guitars .. Golden pipes man, Andy Driscoll, is a trained vocalist having studied with the Chicago Rock vocalist guru, Sheryl Rak, for 5 years at the ..Rak Vocal & Healing Clinic... He started his musical endeavors as a guitar player in Heavy Metal garage bands before landing a lead vocalist spot with Who Cares at the age of 21. Still wanting to sow his wild musical oats, he left Who Cares to form the band Liquid Sky with Ken Comer. Not ready to settle just yet, he formed the band Love Rug-- a Chicago area college favorite in the early 90's doing a jazzy version of early grunge. After Love Rug disbanded, he took a long hiatus from performing in a band-- doing open jams, writing, recording, session vocals & guitar, and radio jingles-- before re-forming Who Cares with Ed Behrens and drummer, Ken Comer, from Liquid Sky. .. Jake Knopp: Drums, percussion. .. Jake is a natural-born, super-talented drummer and percussionist bringing young blood and new energy to the overall Who Cares experience-- not to mention a fresh set of pipes to add to vocals and harmonies. He has been involved in several other band projects prior to joining The Band Who Cares, and he has toured all over the country with local jazz and steel drum bands. He and Andy Driscoll, met while jamming together at open mics in the area, and when Jake was asked to audition, he showed up and immediately got the gig. This guy is really good!... And ladies, he's a really good listener... see for yourself in our new video, "Your Momma: Obama Version." .. .. Ken Comer: (FORMER) Drums, percussion, keyboards, guitar .. Ken has left the band as drummer, but he continues to support us and help out behind the scenes. Who knows, you might even see him once in a while at a live show playing guitar or keys...??? .. Not only is Ken Comer a wizard of timing and interesting beats on the drums, he is also an accomplished guitarist, keyboard & bass player. His passion is to create music in any form that engages the listener on multiple levels. He started on drums at the age of 5 by sneaking onto his older brother's set any chance he got. After saving enough money from a paper route, he bought his own kit at age 11. When he was 17, he switched to guitar and joined a psychedelic band with some highschool mates. After playing guitar all through college, he returned to his first love, drums, playing with various bands throughout Chicagoland including Liquid Sky with bandmate Andy Driscoll & a previous incarnation of Who Cares with Ed Behrens. He has also been a session drummer for several recording studios for 20 years. A perfectionist by nature, he has been known to build his own unusual drum kits, or tweak one of his many collected kits. -

Sounds Like
All of the above and then some-- with a twist of lime and a dash of 'Did anyone bring their mom?' People describe our music as somewhere between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin with just a touch heaviness. We also incorporate into our shows older AND newer cover tunes that we think are cool and fitting to our overall sound.
