Jamuna Fisher a.k.a. The Bardic Groove is a well known Glastonbury bard, musician singer and performer.
He has been playing since the early 80’s, first starting in London and then relocating to the South West. His unique brand of performance, mixing various genres of music with his innate lyrical ability has caught the imagination of audiences and won him much respect.
He has played various high profile venues and events including Glastonbury Festival, Bridgwater Arts Centre, Pilton Working Men’s Club, The Big Green Gathering, Sidmouth Folk Festival, The Old Down Acoustic Club and has completed 2 tours of America in 1999 and 2000 as well as performances across Europe.
His current performances include regular slots at the Sacred Soap Box as part of the Stonehenge Solstice Celebrations and The Glastonbury Winter Fayre where he also helps run stages and gives upcoming musicians and performers a chance to join in. Glastonbury’s Gas Club at the Rifleman’s Arms also features Jamuna’s organisational skills as well as his regular spot for his performances and those of hopeful musicians in the area. As a result he has been responsible for discovering some of the areas best new talents.
The Sadol (Sons and daughters of Liverpool) Theatre Company has also employed his talents as a performance poet, mixing theatre and music into a touring production. The Gog Theatre Co Somerset has also had the Bardic touch with 2 productions (Exile City and Doomsday Fever respectively) and Jamuna has been finalist in the Bard of Glastonbury event.
His current activities include his regular GAS performances as MC and performer and he has recently recorded a CD with The Keeps (see friends list). The title track is collaboration between the artists backed with 2 songs from Bardic Groove and one live Keeps track. This is available to buy by emailing or messaging Bardic Groove.
