We are Bob Armstrong and Keith Cary, and we often have Doug Kauffman on fiddle, guitar and vocals or Meredith Axelrod on guitar and vocals. -----
Bob Armstrong is a founding member of the Cheap Suit Serenaders, with whom he still plays a yearly gig. In the Barking Spiders he plays banjo, guitar, jug (usually in a rack), saw, National Steel guitar, accordion, etc. He plays with a wide variety of musicians including Janet Kline, Clarence Van Hook and Sourdough Slim. Bob and Keith still occasionally play in the Joy Buzzards with Bill Scholer. He's also a graphic artist and the creator of the comic, Mickey Rat.---------
Keith Cary plays with all kinds of people. He's a serial enthusiast. In the Barking Spiders he plays Commodium (his homemade resonator mandolin), harmonica (usually in a rack), guitar, cello, fiddle, etc. Some of his recent bands or fellow musicians include The Alkali Flats, Jolie Holland, Charles Baty (Little Charlie), Clarence Van Hook, John Tchicai, Pete Bernhard, Garrett Pierce, Matt Bauer, and Ben Buettner. When he isn't playing he is often in his shop building or fixing musical instruments. We all agree he should spend more time there and less time messing around on the internet........"Doug Kauffman has been living in Davis since the late-1960's, where he has embraced his joys of music, cooking, linguistics, travel and culture. Doug is considered by many longtime locals to be "the best cook in town". He is fluent in countless languages and sings the Spiders' Cajun standards in real Creole French. Doug despises the modern world of freeways, strip malls, television, and processed foods, and he can tell you all about "real" cultural activities." (thanks Brendan Boyle)........If you want to know more about a song click on the "lyrics" button. If you want to just hear different stuff, Keith Cary has his own myspace site.
"I'll See You In My Dreams" makes us feel a bit foolish now. Heck, all we ever used our saw for, was a cuttin' boards, a cuttin' our fingers, and a scratchin' our backs... You know them places you just can't reach... Such sweet, sweet music.... Great tunes!
Thanks for considerin' us Musical Compadres. Hope to see ya down the road some day.

Damn! I haven't thought about Clarence Van Hook since I got to sing "Precious Lord" with him and Charles Brown when Charles was in the hospital just before he passed on. WTF is Mr. Van Hook up to these days? Where is he?
