The Barrel O'Baddies. Traditional Celtic Punk from the heart of Wolverhampton in England. Traditional music influenced by the spirit and power of strong seventies and eighties punk.
When Strummer and Jones noticed the strength of traditional music with the English Civil War EP, they were not alone. McGowan felt it and so did Spider Stacey's head.
Wolverhampton punks felt the power too. After many years on the road in punk bands, blues bands, traditional and ceilidh bands, a chance meeting at a Pogues concert in Birmingham in 2005 saw the meeting of minds that would eventually lead to the formation of The Barrel O'Baddies in 2007. What would the mix turn out like?
Take a traditional song from one of the old countries, add a jig on fiddle and banjo to get it moving. Lay down some crazy skankin' guitar lines and a heavy bass riff and you're somewhere close to the Baddies' sound. Weave into it layers of growling punk power lyrics and soaring traditional vocal harmonies and the mix is complete. Well, almost complete. Get someone to mash up the place with some strange wooden spoons, whack a cymbal or two and go hell for leather on the bodhran and you'll understand what it feels like to be one of the Barrel O'Baddies. Bloody great! Bang it through a P.A. at full volume after drinkin' several pints of your favourite brew whilst whooping and hollering yourself stupid and you'll know what it's like to be part of a Baddies gig. Fan bloody tastic.
The Barrel O'Baddies play Traditional Celtic Punk, whether you like it or not. 'Ave some!
Really liking the tunes - we should gig together sometime. Let me know if you ever need me to do a support slot, or if you fancied a gig swap I'm sure we could come to an arrangement..............
Hey, sorry about the previous post. I realize I sounded drunk, but I think I was trying to say that you guys "sound cool," heh heh ... I hadn't a drop, I swear!
Thanks very much guys and girls. Really appreciate you coming down. Was good to see you all. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Much Love- BSN [4:20]
Sorry I missed your set at Alcester! AJ Clarke described you (while onstage during his set on Sunday) as "a cross between the Pogues and Slade" -- now that I'd have liked to see! Hope to meet you properly next time.
we're looking to expand the places we play.... if you ever want us to open up a gig for you then get in touch... we can do a short 30 min set and get a crowd stirred up for you!!!
Thank you so much playing at our party on Sunday. You guys were wonderful. Everyone loved it and I'll be in touch real soon to book a gig. Thanks again guys xxxxx

Hi gang! thanks for adding me :) looking forward to seeing you all again real soon! check my gig dates and see if there's any you can do :) 5th July perhaps? with Donns/BSN? x
Hello you two! Yet another absolute corker at the Chindit, you seem to be improving at a rate of Knots at the moment. When we were talking tonight Matt, and you said that your genre of music can attract all kinds of people, that was very true. But what i didnt comment back and should have done, was that yes, that is true, but only if you are the mutts nuts at playing it, which is what you guys are. I doubt there is a band in the land right now who do it better, honestly. Cant wait to hear the finished mixes and keep on rocking in the free world! Glenn
